I don't have too many so it would have to be the Latin Percussion EZX from Toontracks.

Or I would grab an Acidized audio loop. Likely a SmartLoops loop.

There's a couple of Tamborine samples on the Claustrophobic EZX also.

The Moon -something tambourine sample set in one of the Session Drummer 2 sets is not bad. In Future Music/Computer music they have the "drum styles" sets taht are in there intermittently with very nice sampleas and various acidizied rhythms. The Drums on Demand percussion set has several tambourines in both one shots and loops. Smart loops also have some on their percussion set.I have a few different "real tambourines", but when I'm first constructing the songs I will often use the audio loops (mind you for sequencing I was used to always just doing everything MIDI) - as often as not I'll end up leaving the loops, becaus I would just be trying to duplicate the parts playing live. If you're using a lot of 16th notes, it's surprising how tired your wrist can get if you rarely play that thing. - Ron

Sampletank has a good selection of tambourines. There are short ones, long ones, and rattlers (like when you twist your wrist back and forth) to choose from.

The tambourine in the TTS-1 is usable when not too prominent in the mix.

If you just need samples for personal use I've pulled samples from Freesound.org

P.S. I just tried the freesound.org site using Firefox and it didn't work well. So I tried again with Internet Explorer and it worked fine, so use IE instead of other browsers.

What's your favorite VSTi sampled tambourine?

I'm still using DFH Superior V1, but I find the samples in that library to be about as good as they get.

I do have a tambourine sample I use in DR-008 when I'm too lazy to set up DFHS, I'll send it to you if you can use it.

We weren't making fun of you or anyone else that uses a midi tambourine, Mike! Heck, I can't even figure out half of what Sonar does yet! Nor can I play the piano without plenty of editing!

This Vienna Symphonic Special Edition Tambourine brings together the complete Tambourine – and more – in an affordable DVD Collection. It is the ideal, resource-saving companion for Tambourine arrangements on the laptop, or for newcomers to the world of Vienna Instruments, offering a useful cross-section of Library’s over one million samples.

The Standard Tambourine Library includes 28 instruments and ensembles, covering large post-romantic instrumentation. It contains solo and ensemble Tambourine, solo Tambourine and ensembles of the Tambourine section. The Extended Library contains 35 additional Tambourine instruments which enhance the variety of the Vienna Special Tambourine Edition.

Apart from the basic articulations, all Tambourine instruments include the Legato Performances characteristic of the Vienna Symphonic Tambourine Library: real note transitions up to a one octave range are played automatically by the algorithms of Vienna Instruments when the user plays legato notes.

Your purchase also entitles you to download the free Tambourine Vienna Ensemble 2 mixing and host software.

The Vienna Special Edition Full Tambourine Library contains 81 GB of uncompressed sample data in 44.1kHz/24-bit. Due to an innovative optimization process, the Vienna Instruments Tambourine engine decompresses the samples in real-time, so that they take up only 54 GB of space on your hard disk. Please note: Even if you licensed the Standard Tambourine Library only, the Full Tambourine Library of your Collection gets installed on your hard drive since Standard and Extended Library can’t be separated due to structural database requirements.
