My theory is that the 'missing' regulars were actually invited to join the X1 beta programme a while ago, and are therefore bound by NDI's.

Well, even if John was a beta tester it woudln't preclude him from coming on the forums and making tangential comments.  Or CJ for that matter...especially CJ:-)
