I loved it. Maybe bring up the guitar a tad if possible but not essential.

Definitely not too bad, Mike. There is a sense of intimacy and simple honesty in the way you performed and recorded this. I really liked it. I think I agree with Rick that the guitar could come up a tad. Good to see you posting tunes again.

Nice, there is something you get in a performance like this that you don't when you start comping/copy/pasting. Sort of a continuity of emotion I like to call it. I think sometimes in the search for perfection you can wind up losing the very thing you're looking for. Good stuff Mike.

Not bad.... the guitar sounded good as did the vox. My recommendation would be to bump the key up a step or two. You're scraping the bottom of your range in there.

I have to say that i liked it a bit better before the comp....although the boosted guitar is very good...your vocal on the first draft was more in every way. It's really incredible how difficult it can be to both capture a moment in a recording and also to have the editor/engineer part of us not get in the way of something so strong and vulnerable that we do 'too good' of a job mixing. :)

I like this a lot Mike. I'm a big fan of older music like this. Don't really have anything else to add to what's been said already. Thanks. Bub

Great work mike, love it, very dylan like. So don't worry about the comments about vocals, your vocals make it really intimate. Don't know what mix I just listen to I have no problems with that as well, it has to be gentle, thats what the song is. The only thing I can say how much bottom end did you roll off, not much going on in the sub, I know we don't want to much going on down there but somtimes esp when it's just an acoustic song, leaving some of the sub can help give it a little more warmth. IMHO. But great, love good heartfelt acoustic music, with very beutiful singing. Peace Ben

Nice job! I listened to both versions and I think I actually liked the first one better, the vocal sounded just a bit more "natural" to me. But that's just my opinion, it has to sound good to you, you're the artist. Again, really nice work on this, wish I had the b*lls to post something like this, LOL. You mentioned getting out of your comfort zone of SONAR, I'd freak out posting something like this without the comfort zone of a full band behind me. thanks for sharing it!

Cool rendition Mike - I prefer #1 myself, it's so well recorded you really sound like you're performing here in the room with me. And you pulled off the singing/picking multi-tasking to a tee Mind you, I think it would have sounded better if you'd done it in X1c, with a bit of Pro-Channel

Nice one Mike. I don't have any suggestions to add to the comments that have already been made but I did want to add my accolades on a nice job. Between the first and second --- I would cast my vote for the first. To me it has a real honesty (vocal in particular) and that is a great thing to capture in a recording. Freddy J

Hi Mike , nice one , I like old time music. Just to go against the grain, I liked the second one better. That spoken introduction is really nice to set up the song. Rik

mike_mccue I don't know how to explain how much lack of confidence a person trying to sing has to deal with... but I figure any of you who do it have some idea. :-) I sure do, that's for sure. Singing is the hardest thing for me to do. Learning to deal with the sound of my voice recorded was the hardest. Even my talking voice on an answering machine. Once you get used to that and accept that no one else is going to sing but you, you jump in and don't look back. I work so hard on my vocals it makes me sick sometimes. It takes a long time to get it down unless you're a natural and I am not. Just keep at it Mike...over time, it gets better and better and your confidence will increase as well. To be honest, I really like the timbre of your voice and seriously feel you have nothing to be concerned about. You have good pitch, nice delivery, vibrato when you need it and a good sound. :) -Danny
