I listened to the first version. I am no rap expert, but it doesn't sound like crap to me. Why don't you add some music and see how this works out? This would be much more interesting than the plain vocals!

Google or search youtube for "Slam Poetry". It's basically spoken word usually with an urban or political theme. It can be written or "freestyle". Usually delivered with a lot of flair. It's very similar to rap. Just without backing music.
