+1. I learned the hard way that regustry cleaners that claim miracles can totally mess up registry. Cc leans on the side of caution, deleting only the obvious junk like entries to uninstalled programs.

Thanks for this thread. I've been considering a registry cleaner.

ccCleaner is excellent. Never had a problem with it myself, I only run it when I remove software.

It's a controversial topic, people will suggest that it really isn't a good idea to run one unless you are in a predicament, and that opinion is quite valid. I would say if you are running it and not backing up you are asking for trouble one day.

    Another +1 for CCleaner.

BUT I always backup the registry prior to changing anything.  CCleaner warns you and lets you backup  just prior to deleting things.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

I use CCleaner. Works for me, I have not tried anything else, though most of the time I just use it to clear out temp files and the like.

I use CCleaner too, not for the registry clean particularly but I always run it when I'm cleaning everything else. I've heard all of the arguments for and against cleaning the registry and from what I understand it doesn't really need doing but CCleaner's seems to be so safe that I figure what the hell, might as well give it a spin while I'm on. Like Mike I always create a backup but have never ever had to restore one.
