I am aware of a lot internally. November 1st was relayed through an attendee at IMSTA. Not an official IK announcement. Just word of mouth. We have made the internet aware that SampleTank 3 is coming in 2013. We are sticking to that. Still, very soon.

The part I don't get is all they would have to do is make it a 64 bit vst and give it a resizable GUI and they would have had a lot of happy Customers long ago... oh yeah, and additional revenue. I'm sure that would take some time but years??? For some reason I have this feeling that it is going to become another custom shop product with ala cart sounds.
Purrrfect Audio DAW here. Wow!...

The "al la carte" thing doesn't bother me so much. If that's the way they want to sell/deliver their products than so be it. I'm with you on the "years" bit. Though with the capabilities of Kontakt, the bar was set pretty high.

Here's a thought. Will current Custom Shop credits be usable for ST3 ala cart sounds?

I don't think SampleTank 3 will come close to Kontakt... but one can hope...
I decided to install my East West Symphonic Symphony Silver (the ORIGINAL NI version) in Win 8. Very surprised that it works. Not the stand alone mind you, but the VST. I was even MORE surprised that it immediately became available in Kontakt. BONUS!
I did try to upgrade to PLAY Edition, but they REALLY screwed the order up, so I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine...I ordered the Play Silver upgrade, which was on sale for half off @ $49. They took the $49, and I waited for about 3 days. I didn't get anything, so I wrote them and said HEY what's up? They said "We were unable to charge your Credit Card $149 for GOLD." I said "I didn't order GOLD, I ordered SILVER for $49, which you already have been paid for". They never responded.
I got a refund on my card for the $49...never another word from them. SCAMMERS....Not a "We're sorry" nothing....they lost my business...

I've been fortunate with Soundonline and my Composers Collection. Play 4 works in Win 7. I'm happy with that package and my Komplete 8. I did not go with Komplete 9 as I did not care to get the Rick bass (since I had my sights on and now have OTS Rick) and some FX's for $400. I already had Action Strings (Christmas Gift from The Lovely Lady), Session Horns, Abbey Road Vintage Drummer and The Giant (I only paid $270 for those and I had the use of them long before Komplete 9 came out).

No. SampleTank 3 will not have the Custom Shop at launch. The library will be huge, at....nvm. I'll just leave it til we release. I keep forgetting, hints just come back to bite me later. Its on its way...

Any thoughts yet if there will be upgrade discounts for existing ST2 owners? Any suggested price points yet??

That makes it sound like we're going to have to pay something to get 64bit Sample Tank. Unlike UAD 6.4 and (WUP'd 8.0 owners of) Waves 9.0.

There will be an upgrade price for current owners of SampleTank 2 to SampleTank 3. We'll have final price points soon.

If there is a huge library then I suspect the price will not be bargain basement. It may still be good value for money for some. However I have the Kontakt, Independence Pro and Dimension Pro factory content and a lot of extre Kontakt and some extra dim pro libraries and Sampletank 2 and Miroslave CE.I am pretty much at the point where I have most things covered that are likley to be included in a factory library. In that respect I would not have minded a option to buy a low cost player with ala carte sounds in Custom shop.

If the upgrade price is not VERY reasonable, I shall also be leaving this alone - I have Kontakt but more importantly for me Mach 5, which I love and have invested quite heavily in - a large Sample Tank Library, as Glyn says, is highly unlikely to be of any interest, no matter how good. It sounds to me as if IK have not quite thought this through but we shall see! Nigel

We shall see, release is close by and people have been excited to see what the new SampleTank 3 will bring. Its hard to judge it without all the details, but we'll have more to share soon.

If is not $79 or less or I may well not jump on it. $49 is the perfect price point for me since I have quite extensive Kontakt libraries now and I rarely have to think about looking for yet another symphony, choir, drum or guitar library. IOW if it's moire that $49 it gonna have to really blow my socks off and if it's $79 it might as well be all that and a bag of chips.

I'm pretty much in the "have everything I need and would only like a 64-bit sampletank plugin" camp. I'm even one of the few and strange ones that like the current interface. So an alternative to upgrade to a bare bones 64-bit version for cheap would be my preference, I'm not even sure I'd like it to be more featured. The edge Sampletank has on Kontakt (for me) is the simplicity while still having a lot of flexibility. At the same time I'm not a fan of the custom shop idea. The custom shop has kept me from using the latest incarnations of amplitube. Including upgrading and using the free versions (even the bonus featured received with hardware). It's just a personal preference, nothing I want to argue about. IK are in their right to push the idea and it seems successful. Will be interesting to see the new Sampletank anyhow, but I don't care that much when it gets here.
