1st Disappoinment for me - Zoom using Z+Lasso Still Broken
Hi Gang... I'm still feeling optomistic about the new release... I'm just gettting started with it but of course, I had to check this first as it's such a nasty problem for me... I dont remember all the various input that related to this issue, but I do remember that the problem has to do with either hidden tracks or folders or hidden folders... Using the zoom tool of holding the Z key while using lasso with the mouse to define the area to zoom is still not working where there are folders/hidden/or such... Now back to playing with 2015!

Is this in PRV or TV? In PRV I can lasso and it will zoom. I have to hold Z to do it.

Hi Grem...
I haven't tried it in PRV recently... But in TV it is not working on songs that have hidden folders (I believe that was the established final discovery in X3e)
I've only tried it in such a situation so far in 2015, but it is not working there... I lasso an area of waveform and instead of getting the selection maximized, it increases the size a little and jumps to a useless view...
I made sure snap was disabled as I already know that when enabled, it "interferes" with the zoom...

Hi Keni Can you create a quick "lasso zoom failure for dummies" post with clear steps to reproduce? I'll see if my Plat does it...

Hi Karyn... Sure... It's simple... Start a project with a bunch of tracks Add some tracks to a new folder Archive and hide the folder Snap is disabled Hold the Z while using the mouse to lasso a small segment of a single clip/track Expected result: Lassoed area should zoom to occupy the full screen by itself Actual result: Not the area selected occupying the appropriate full screen area... Thanks for checking this... A number of others corroborated this back in x3e and it hasn't changet in 2015... Keni

Yeah, until I came up with that workaround, that cut my editing speed in half. Hopefully that gets fixed because while the Select then press Z thing does work, it feels really backwards after doing the other way for so long.

Excellent, thanks for the great workaround ! (But I agree, I liked it better the way it worked before, so hopefully it gets addressed in future versions)

I've just tried the workaround and it does work when selecting tracks, but it still fails to work properly 1) when selecting Take lanes, or 2) when Auto Track Zoom is enabled...

Yeah, and this workaround also disables the key command Shift-F (to return to zoom entire project) don't like that. You have to click Alt-Z a bunch of times to get back to zooming the entire project. Think I'll put it back the way it was, because I use Shift-F a lot.

^^ Good catch with the Shift+F thing - that assumes that the selected track is the thing you want to revert to, which clearly it isn't. Definitely not a "fix everything" workaround for sure, but for someone like me who doesn't use Auto Zoom (which I personally find a bit annoying) and I usually ALT+Z out of whatever zoom level I'm in, this dramatically speeds up my workflow. But yeah, obviously the ideal thing would be for the bug to be fixed so we all get what we want.

here is what I see http://www.screencast.com/t/bs1IbhzGe0 with tracks above a collapsed folder the zoom works as intended with tracks below the collapsed folder the zoom is funky :-) All the best Jan

Take lanes... So many of my problems begun with the change from layers... It appears "they" decided that when someone wants to zoom a lane, what the really want is to zoom the master track a to and all the lanes a little bit... I'm sure there's someone out there who finds this useful... It sure isn't me! Micro editing clips in lanes has become a royal pita in this respect... I had hoped they would take another approach but it appears not... Very sad! Simple enough to understand... If I wanted the track an lanes to all zoom, I would select such! Not a good decision it hey made here (to me)... Keni

<ouch>! I guess I can't use this work around either... I too use shift+F often.... I'm truly amazed that these zoom issues haven't been addressed yet. I've been hammering on this issue for a long time with many others corroborating and suffering from it... Of course, this all started when Lanes were introduced... For me a bad decision to begin with. I'm getting used to working with them, but the problems created far outweigh any benefits (for me)... Keni
