2 New all Sonar songs

Hi fellow Sonarites,

I just posted a couple of new songs recorded and mixed 100% in Sonar to my band's myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/sfdrop

They are "Reload" and "Fire Storm". They both have Cakewalk synths and plug-ins all over them. Notably; Dimension Pro, Rapture Pro, RXP and Velocity.

I especially enjoyed doing all but the last "white boy rap" vocals in Reload by dragging phrases into cells in Velocity. Then I was able to "remix" the vocals entirely by playing them in real time, and draging the midi notes around to make them hit perfectly if needed.

Oh, that is my recently built Paia Fatman on the solo lead synth lines for both songs. I'm loving that puppy, since it is the only real analog synth I ever owned.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Doc DROP

Well, they are not bad songs. They just aren't my cup of tea alas, which given the genre is a bit surprising to me. They just did not stir any emotion in me, good or bad.

    Cheers

Thanks for the listen, Shad. I wish it wouldn't have illicited the least complimentary response I can think of, aka no emotion...but oh well.

You say "given the genre". I have never been able to pinpoint a genre we belong in. What genre are you thinking of?

    Thanks,

That is a good question. Sort of an Art of Noise/B52 sound. Electronic Rock?

I am sorry I could not give you a stronger compliment. I am not entirely sure what is going wrong with your songs for me. Part may be that Myspace is not allowing the dynamics to come out.

You have a lot of interesting sounds and effects going on and a fun playful Zappa quality to the lyrics.

    Cheers

Thanks Shad. You busted me for being alive (in my 20's) and listening to a lot of music in the 80's... I always liked both Art of Noise and the B52's a lot. I can only hope to have some of their respective talent.

Don't worry about the comment. My skin is pretty thick nowadays. And thanks for digging in a little and finding some things you do like. (Besides it is all Myspace's fault...)

Anybody else? I'm not too proud to beg...

doc, I gotta kick out of your sound. Ride Muni was the best mix to me. Really enjoyed the "fun" vibe to all the cuts.

    Cheers,

Thanks Michael and "Amateur". Since we aren't in it for the money, DROP has to enjoy the songs we do, hence the fun.

You guys have made me feel better than I did this morning when there were no comments...Thanks!

Chris, I liked FIRE STORM. It had me tapping the tempo on the desk. I appreciate an artist that thinks out of the box. It kind of had that DEVO vibe. GOOD JOB !

    Thanks Dave and Kev,

That is exactly what I hoped for with these songs. Some foot tappin' and some fun and some Devo-esque out of the box'n'!
