2 Reasons I haven't upgraded to X2
I use a lot of loops and have asked for two simple but time-saving and creativity-flexible upgrades from Cakewalk but they haven't implemented them: 1) Make it easy to transpose multiple groove clip pitches at once. I put together songs with a bunch of groove clip pitches for the loops only to realize I need to transpose and I have to go into each one individually and do it. It's time consuming and frustrating since this is just text and should be very easy to upgrade. 2) Allow for tracks to be assigned to different groove clip pitches at the same time stamp. Sometimes you've got a bass and guitar at C but you might want a piano at Am at the same time and you can't do it. This should also be a simple addition. These two updates would help me more than any of these recent razzle dazzle updates. Thx, Mike F.

Assume = Makes an ASS out of U and ME Don't assume it is easy, or on their priority list. Keep on what you are using then.

Not sure I'm following, not being a great loop user myself but to solve those issues 1. Select the clips, open the clip inspector (Shift + I), click on the groove clip tab. Use the Reference field to change all selected clips in one go. To solve 2. Use the same reference field as an offset on required clips. Does that not sort it out or am I misunderstanding something?

Yes, I was either not clear or you have misunderstood. I'm talking about the groove-clip pitches in the markers. If there's a way to change those in one fell swoop I'd sure love to hear it. Same for the second comment, basically I need to be able to have 2 markers for the same time stamp and be able to assign the track to which one I want it to read. Thx, Mike F.

Ah got ya'. You want to change the pitch markers in the timeline in one go? That can't be done AFAIK but it never has been possible has it? Problem 2. A clip can ignore the markers. Just uncheck "Follow pitch" in the clip properties.

Yes, it's never been possible but I've asked for it several times and it should be easy. It's just text (at least for #1. The rest of the upgrades don't really affect my workflow much but these two definitely would. For #2 I want the flexibility to choose any key at any time for any clip (at least 2 keys available to be assigned at any time would do the trick). Just unchecking the follow groove pitch clip wouldn't so it because it would just go to the default which may not be the one I'd like at the time. Need some flexibility. Thx, Mike F.

For #2 I want the flexibility to choose any key at any time for any clip This can already be done just change the reference pitch in groove clip properties.

As far as I can tell the reference pitch is only in effect when you also have "Follow Pitch" selected which means it still follows your markers and all you're doing is transposing in a complicated way. It works but very cumbersome. If "Follow Pitch" is not selected and you change the Reference Note it has no effect and just plays at the real pitch that it was recorded at. If you know of a simple way or I'm missing something please let me know.

I can also transpose the pitch using the "Pitch" setting in the Groove-Clip (just under reference note) but that's a bit cumbersome also.

The clip will respond to the pitch setting without "Follow pitch" checked. What about copying a clip and bouncing it? It'll follow the pitch offset while being bounced.

I just tried it and it doesn't respond to the reference note change (say from D to E) but does respond to transposing it's original reference note (say D then up 2) by selecting pitch but again that's very cumbersome, especially if you've set up say 50 clips and then realize that they need to be transposed. Or am I missing something? Thx, Mike F.

You can do multiple clips at once if that helps.

Sometimes you've got a bass and guitar at C but you might want a piano at Am at the same time Interesting example as A minor and C major have the same key signature. The scale of A natural minor and C major have the same notes. Pitch shifting aint going to help in that instance

That's one of the reasons I used that example. It would be perfect if I could have a two sets of markers and be able to assign a track to which set I wanted it to read.
