2001...a Cake Odyessy...

2001: SOS went international and Cakewalk Software introduced their brand new DAW, Sonar. Who remembers this? #SOS30

I still have the Sonar 1.0 installation CD.  It's in the shoebox with all the other ancient programs I'll never use but can't seem to get rid of.  Things like Seersystems Reality and Kontakt 1.0, the CD with the two little holes on the underside that was supposed to discourage copying the disk.

Memories...

Version after version, Cakewalk had been gradually implementing many features I was hoping for into Pro Audio. But things were moving faster and faster, with Steinberg developing VSTi and offering effects automation and all, and Pro Audio was lagging behind...

When they introduced Sonar, it was like hitting jackpot. As much of a departure from Pro Audio as it was, there was absolutely no looking back, not a moment of hesitation.

I still have the box, cd and manual. I bought it because Logic wouldn't play well with my PC.
