2014 - first project with Sonar X3d new version

Hello everyone and a happy new year!

This started out as a jam session during Christmas holidays and off duty for some music making
Seems like CW finally got things together with their more stable X3 which I  am enjoying at the moment.
Weather Report and Steely Dan, love their works, this maybe shines through?
Concerned about "playing" tight enough for this type genre? Are the transitions too big?

Very creative and some nice textures and synth sounds. Drums seem to be working and the bass guitar sounds good. Everything seems tightly knit together and work well in the mix. Nice piece of music. Happy 2014!!

This is a nice surprise.  The instruments sound natural and clear which makes for good engineering.  The arrangement is tight and concise.  The only thing that caught my attention was that the panning is quite narrow.  I listened on both speakers and headphones to verify.  I would suggest panning some elements out to 75 - 80% left and right to open up the stereo spectrum.  Let the bass and drums fill up the center.  Otherwise, good job!

    All the best,
    Lynn

Being a long time WR & Dan fan... I like this a lot... especially the Bernard Purdie Shuffle feel...
Panning sounds about right to me... I like mix just fine...
    Very cool...

This sounds nice here, the mix does sounds touch narrow on my monitors but fine on the cans.

Enjoyed the playing and the capture/presentation thanks for sharing.

Nice job, definitely hear the Steely Dan / WR influence.  Cool jam and I think the mix is good, you could widen it a bit but it is good as is..

It might just be me or my Altec buds, but the pianos all seem to lack sparkle.

Too bad there are no vocals.

    Other than that, great job.

I put a small amount of valve dist, low pass eq and augmented the upper region aafter you did point out the lack of sparkle bapu. Hope it sounds better now! Eventually there will be a lady's vocal on this I hope. I am not sure where to put her vocal exactly but she will find out I am sure. Thnx bapu!

    Hej och god fortsättning!

Steely Dan is one of my favourites, so this was nice listening to. Good sound choice, balance and dynamics. The main synth with chords was a bit to deep sometimes for my taste, but I loved the sound. Nice jam!
