24 hours with Windows 10
My forth attempt...so far so good.
I haven't noticed any performance gains over 7, but you guys say it's there. That's good enough for me.
I messaged Cakewalk a few days ago and they suggested that the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables may be causing Sonar.exe to fail. I deleted them all and re-installed the ones Cakewalk said I needed, and it seems to have worked.
Any tips or links to good threads I've missed...would be appreciated.

Clint: I am considering upgrading also to Win 10, but have been waiting for all the bugs to get resolved with the various DAWs I use. I would be interested in finding out which files Cakewalk recommended that you reinstall. Can you post a list, or can I PM you to get the list?
Sonar is my main DAW, but I also use Cubase 8.5, Studio One 3 and Mixbus. I was waiting for Steinberg to give the green light as they initially had told users to wait, but I understand that Cubase 8.5 now runs smoothly with the the recent Window 10 updates. I read on these Cakewalk forums that Sonar is running well on Win10 for most around here; same with Studio One.
Also, I know you also use Mixbus 3.1. Can you confirm that Mixbus also works with Win 10?

I have noticed huge performance gains with my laptop. Very little problems, until Windows does an update then there seems to always be one issue!

There's not much point in waiting, IMO. I took the plunge a few months ago based on two assumptions: that eventually Microsoft would take away my choice anyway, and that this continuous-release model meant there was no point in waiting for a completely stable release.
I took that leap with no small amount of trepidation. I'm running SONAR 8.5, so I knew there'd be no help from Boston should any compatibility issues arise. Fortunately, there have been none. Automatic updates have sometimes been a PIA, but only occasionally. Most days the update occurs early in the morning, hours before I'm doing any audio stuff.
 All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Presonus Firepod (or FP10) will NOT work in Windows 10.  I did a beta test on a new Windows 10 Professional. I installed Windows 7 drivers (in compatibility mode) for my Presonus FirePod. The drivers installed OK, but the interface was only recognized as a 2 channel input device not an 8 channel. So I am back to Windows 7 and the old drivers with my old interface. The only way I am moving forward is with a new interface. This makes me sad as the old firepod has been a stable platform for me. Now, since the world seems to be moving away from the firewire (most newer motherboards don't have a 1394 firewire jack anymore), I am thinking maybe a USB.
 SPLAT on a Home built i3 16 GB RAM 64-bit Windows 10 Home Premium 120GB SSD (OS) 2TB Data Drive. Behringer XR-18 USB 2.0 Interface. FaderPort control.

Back to 7 again. I'm just having all kinds of strange things happening with Windows 10. The list is long.
Sonar has been working fine, but too much quirky stuff going on. Glad I keep backups!
