3 Monitors

(A first for me)   After disabling ATI Radions CrossFire, today, I finally feel blessed ... adding another monitor ... hoping to increase tidiness and workflow.

(Note: Doing so did not lower my current Windows Experience Index, 7.6 ... and graphics remain at 7.7)

Any of you have thoughts on 3 monitors?

I would love to have 3 or even 4.  but it's not practical for me.

So far two is working beautifully for me.
Not sure what I would do with a 3rd or 4th.

my last computer for DAW I had 3 monitors connected to it.

main one for sonar track view
2nd one for plugins and softsynths
3rd one for either Staff view or for BIAB with chords on the screen for me to play along with on the keyboard - positioned in front of my keyboard.

    LOL!

The 3rd monitor is old and cheap ... smaller than the others ... so (today) (probably it + an extra video card < $100)

Currently, I use it to stash all shortcuts/desktop stuff and continue with Sonar on the 'original' 2 monitors.  (It actually sits on my left Adam's monitor for now ... waiting to get bumped onto the floor (... please don't tell Yep)

When I first read the post I skimmed it quickly and thought you were talking about speaker monitors! Got me a little confused as to why you would use three speakers...

I use two 4:3 19" monitors. Rather than going a third monitor, I want to switch the main one to a 22" widescreen. It has the same vertical resolution as my 19" 4:3s, so then I can get rid of one of those. I think you're better off keeping it at double, and just getting bigger monitors. Easier to work with I think.

Im actually going to start using 3 soon, but only because my main rig has a 40" and a 22", and Im going to have another 22" above the first one that will be connected to a second daw. Im going to have the two DAWS linked so the one with just one monitor will run all sofsynths, and the main DAW will be for audio and plugins, etc. when I push play on the main one, the other one will play as well- Also, I will have audio cables routed of course so I can hear both DAWS-

This is going to solve my issue of having latency causing plugins that I use on the busses which cannot be frozen.

So, I will always be able to play a new part even while all the plugins are engaged, such as Voxengo tape bus.

Of course his will decrease the CPU load on each DAW as well. Im excited to set this system up!

The reason this will be so good is because I do a lot of mixing on the fly as I go, because having things sounding good is inspiring and also helps me find what the songs need more easily.

Basically, I will be able to vibe more.

Anyways, that is why I will have a third monitor!

I know I went off on a tangent, but it was inspired by the third monitor discussion lol
