30 minutes and this is what happened.

Got home from playing a gig and had this lik/groove stuck in my head. SO what the heck It's Midnight but I'm not sleepy, Pour a nice glass of red wine and fire up Sonar. This is after 45 minutes NO re takes( which shows on lead) .
I wanted some delay on the lead and opened this "warp delay" I got from KVR by mistake, it ended up being a good mistake.. This is the default patch.. (You'll need drugs to appreciate!!)
Hope the links work. I can sleep now, my mind is clear. (r)

Hi John, fun piece, the delay makes the lead sound very spacey, or is it the other way round .
Nice seventies vibe with that riff, nice.

    Greetings, Rik

So now in the light of day not sure what to do with this? Lyrics?
Lead guitar is terrible but that warp delay is a keeper, It verges on annoying.  Is this original, or did I "borrow"  this lik from another song?

Edit- Thanks Rik we must have been posting at same time,

Like the overall groove very much.   Lead does sound a bit over distorted and grainy.

IMO, if you can clean it up and add some good vocals it would probably be a keeper.

    Thanks,

The elements for a great tune here. A really cool riff, has a familiar ring to many great tunes from the past but I think unique enough to be an original. If I were to compare the style I would have to say Pat Benetar's guitarist and hubby Neil. A great start, I would say it's certainly worthy of vocals and solo.

Hmm, definitely needs some development.  The main idea of the song is there and I would firmly establish that before going thru the improvisation parts.  Then I would repeat the main idea to reinforce it.  Otherwise it sound aimless.

Well yes, It was just a lik and a drum groove I had stuck in my head. So I just bashed this out in less than an hour otherwise the next day the idea is gone. Years gone by it would have been on a $10 cassette rec/player I keep in a drawer. Now it's a full sound cause I can!   As a song goes it has no beginning middle or end. But then there are people who like that a lot. The choice is now mine to go in a thousand different directions,  Now when I write songs I think about playing them live. Be it for a dance or a outdoor festival, they have to be fun to play and energize the audience.
I had just got home from playing at a dance ( as a solo, 200 people) so I was pumped and in dance mode. I also play in a 5 piece band,  when you write for a band it has to be fairly simple to learn= simple arrangements that follow a predictable patterns.
