Hey thanks guys, I went and bought the Ampeg pack ... couldn't resist at that price.  And I also took advantage of the CS credits sale to acquire that sweet Fender Twin Reverb combo and a Royer mic for another 16 bucks!  Did OK today, I think. 
 
While the other bass amp sims I demoed -- including the Overloud Mark Studio 2 -- were all impressive in various ways, I still liked the Ampegs the best, particularly the BA-500 and the SVT-4 PRO.  Purely a matter of taste, of course.

Of Course! Tone is VERY personal and part of the reason why I work for IK! These are great prices on some of our best gear models!

I agree, good prices on good gear.  Only trouble is, when IK's website is down (which seems to be happening a lot lately) you can't demo any of these fine products, since you need CS to be up and running in order to do so.  CS doesn't work when IK is down.  It's down right now, in fact, so my generous 72-hour demos may expire without my having a chance to fully check them out. 
A pity that the excellent work of IK's talented developers is hidden behind IK's hare-brained marketing schemes.

Far be it from me to tell you how to run your business, but in the real IT world, testing things out on your production servers is unheard of, and having your entire web presence down for extended periods is a very serious matter -- many heads have rolled for less.  Someone should let IK management know that these things are bad for business.  Who's running your IT operation, PACE?  (Sorry, cheap shot.)  Anyway, I love IK's products, but its business practices are vexing.

You already bought CSR, The Custom Shop is the installer for those .dlls.

As for IKs practices, There is a reason we are leaders in this industry. We are sorry for the downtime, accidents happen and the issue is resolved now.

It's a good thing, for you, that they have custom shop.
 
I just keep asking for Obi to make it optional so I don't have to use it.
 
It could be the best of both worlds.
 
I don't get why a company would see a need to force something on you that you don't want. Especially when there are so many people who do enjoy it. Make it available for folks who are enthusiastic about it and leave it optional for folks who are not.
 
Simple.
 
That is actually my reason for continuing to voice my opinion... well, that and the fact that Obi elects to argue with me about it instead of saying benign stuff like "sigh... ok, I'll let the guys back at mission control know what's on your mind."

If the number of people that don't like it is so small why can't you guys do the easy thing and let the few of us be happy customers by helping us out?
 
If you are going to argue you should at least attempt to do it well.
 
For example; the statement "Most musicians that try it love it." may be 100% factual but it is also meaningless in the context of a comparison.
 
You are employing the Argumentum ad populum fallacy. Your statement isn't persuasive. and your use of it makes you look like you are not really prepared for the debate you have perpetuated with your contrary responses.
 
You may stop using annoying invalid arguments.
 
I may stop pointing out that arguing when you can be listening is a bad habit.
 
I was surprised that you couldn't figure it out... but now I have figured out that you may not be planning on figuring it out.

Is based on another classic fallacy and it is known as the "False Dilemma". It is another invalid statement when used in a context where many options are available and you are attempting to use the statement to proffer your choice as the best.
 
Using a False Dilemma in a presentation makes one look eager... well, that's about the only thing good you can say.
 
When people employ ill logic to attempt to be persuasive, people that are actually paying attention to the presentation are likely to seem offended.
 
It is as if they have just been treated like they weren't paying attention, and some people react by paying even more attention.
 
I'm glad I live a in a country where we celebrate free speech.

This is the most ridiculous argument. It's not like you are forced to use custom shop every time you open your DAW and use an IK plugin. Any business has the right to run it exactly how they want and they aren't going to listen to an incedibly tiny minority.... Why should they?

This constant 'Obi bashing' mentality is boring. Make your point then move on. Seriously.

I'm not one to "bash" anyone personally -- I think it's cool that IK Obi posts here.  I mean, if he didn't alert us to IK's deals, someone else would have to.  Speaking of which, I don't think anyone's yet mentioned the current IK specials on their compressors, which are EXCELLENT and a GREAT DEAL right now.  See, I'm not anti-IK.  :-)
 
However, I don't think it's improper to voice one's opinion about the way IK sells its products.  No other plugin company that I know of makes you download and run a "store" in order to demo and purchase things.  While I'll admit that the Custom Shop is pretty neat for Amplitube, I think it makes less sense for the T-RackS side, where there are fewer products and the prices are higher.  And having a more straightforward pricing system, without the confusing Credits, Jam Points, etc. couldn't hurt. 
 
Anyway, if the alternative to CS is iLok, then I'll happily live with it ... recent events have turned me against PACE for the foreseeable future.

The Fender collection is all I've been using for awhile. My real Fender twin has become an end table. My favs are the Deluxe reverb and the Super-Sonic. I almost bought a Super-Sonic once...I should have. I do wish IK would make the oxblood version.

I picked up both pieces of software. Based on what I heard here I should be able to mimic the sound of my old Fender Super Reverb. I just haven’t had time to play with them yet!
