32-Bit Plugs on 64-Bit X2?
I'm installing X2 Producer on a new machine. The installer is asking which plug-ins I want to install. Many of them are not pre-selected because they are 32-bit. Will these simply not work in X2 64-Bit? Should I not bother installing them?

So, a lot of the plugs that are not selected for a standard install have a more commonly used (often better) variant. In other words, you could install the old 32 bit eq, but if you have prochannel etc... do you want to? I usually go with the standard install. There are plenty of plugs to keep me busy and it actually helps guide me away from the older ways of doing things.
There are still plenty of nice solutions. I'm a guitarist, so I need all the help I can get staying in focus.

You may as well install them. They are all useful in many scenarios.
If you prefer the 64 bit then fine, but may as well install them. The worst case scenario is that they don't work when you load them. I don't think they interfere with anything just having them available. I've never had any problems, but if I did, I'd just uninstall it, or remove it from the vst scanned folders in sonar.

Personally, I wouldn't bother. They are old and other plug-ins provide the same functionality or better. But no, it won't hurt for you to install them. However, if you're just installing the 64-bit version of SONAR, then most of those older plug-ins won't work. They will only work if you install the 32-bit version of SONAR and use that. If you've spent a lot of money on 32 bit VST plugins, or have some old faves, then you can get them to work in Sonar 64 bit by using a software add ons Bitbridge or jBridge

Didn't get EZ-drummer (32bit) to Work with X2 (64 bit) but after installing jBridge it works nicely.

Definitely a good idea to go to your Toontrack account,and get the 64 bit installer,in fact it was "Bapu" who pointed this out to me about a year ago,so thanks,because,I could not get J-Bridge to work for me at all,and a real 64 bit version of EZ,is always going to be better than a bridged version.
That being said,I still use lots of 32 bit free/donation plugs,with Sonars bridge no problem.

Howdy BAPU & everybody... I've been to the Toontrack website and cannot identify the 64 bit installer. I know this is my error ... I did download the most recent update but that has not enabled me to use EZD in 64 bit X2 which is the only version I have on the laptop. Thanks for any help with this! Roy

Hey Bit, Well, that's entirely different. Sure, in that situation, it would be useful to install the older plugs. The way I am dealing with a new install under Windows 8 is to avoid 32 bit plugins as much as I can.
If a project opens looking for old 32 bit plugins I am going to replace them with 64 bit versions or totally new 64 bit plugins.
Only in a very few instances where there is no 64 bit equivalent will I install a 32 bit plugin.
Now I have been moving to a full 64 bit system for audio for some years now and its not so hard to find good 64 bit plugins at this time.
The way I see it is there are only a few holdouts clinging to 32 bits in the VST developer world.
