'A Second Chance'. Completely new style for me...
A completely new direction for me perhaps. If you compare it my other stuff on Soundcloud you'll see a big difference! I wanted to make this track a little 'rough around the edges' as im used to making things sound more crisp - hopefully i pulled it off. https://soundcloud.com/i-woke-a-giant/a-second-try

That sounds really nice. Good job. Great vocals and everything else too. BTW...did your machine get straightened up?

yep. really well done! there is a lot good going on with the vocals, I tip my hat for that. but...I have listened to your other stuff (flight facilities), is it really such a big new direction - just because it is more of a ballad? well... also, don't want to be a smart ass - but isn't the song called "a second try"? ah, those head-in-the-clouds artists...

Don - Cheers man. No, I had to leave Sonar X2 for now and head back to the stability of Home Studio 7. This is my first track in around 4 months - has really held me back. But am loving Home Studio again. It's not as fancy as Sonar X2 but at least its not buggy. Tom - I have no idea what you're saying! But thanks for listening! Can you please define 'Flight facilities' and 'head in the clouds artist'?? Also - this is a huge difference from dance/electronica!?

Hey, Have you looked at the Reliability Monitor on your machine and see if its recorded any information about what's up with X2? It may have logged some information about trouble it's encountered that may be useful for a fix. That's just puzzling to have that problem on that hot rod of a machine.

sorry for the confusion - soundcloud fooled me! I just continued listening after your song - but instead of listening to another tune of you, soundcloud found it suitable to re-direct me to "flight facilities", a "related'" tune. Thought it was yours!

I hate it when that happens... one of the reasons I don't use soundcloud much anymore... Yes... this is different from what I've heard from you... I like this a lot... excellent vocal arrangement and styling... very nice... I don't really feel qualified to comment on a lot of the techno/dance music, I listen to here... but I do appreciate it... I appreciate this style direction much more...

Many thanks for listening and for the feedback. SpeedTom - ah, yeah that explains things. You gotta love Soundcloud though. It's so ORANGE. Can anyone hear some odd 'gargling' on the very high frequencies - particularly on the 'S' sounds etc? If so, do you know what causes this? Is it boost 11? It happens on some of my tracks but not on others. I usually De-Ess with Melodyne on my electronic music, but this track I wanted to leave 'rough around the egdes'. I'd be interested to hear where I'm going wrong or if anyone else experiences it. Thanks again. Dave

Nice clear vocals buddy, however, way too much reverb if you ask me, especially noticeable at the start of the track, other than that, very nice!

I thought it was cool. It reminded me of year of the cat.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
