'At the Headless Cross'

Been a while since I posted anything . Here's a song from a larger project I'm (slowly) working on:

At the Headless Cross
Tim Wilkinson -  vocals and acoustic guitar
Me - synths and treated electric guitars, mix

Got some work to do yet, but I thought I'd throw it out here, see what you think. It's Box.net 320kbps MP3 file, and you can stream or download it if you wish.

Edit: made a couple of minor tweaks, and got rid of some pops & crackles, new link here

Outstanding James... Tim's voice is unique and beautiful...
I loved the guitar and synth pad too... the recording sounds a little hot, and on the verge of clipping... still, a pleasure to listen too...

Thanks a lot Frank..this track is a bit of a 'Frankenstein'..Tim recorded the first acoustic guitar part really nicely and I added the synths and stuff. Then he came up with the lyrics and recorded the second part, voice and guitar together - not such a good recording. I'm still struggling with getting the two parts to gel.

Yes, happy little number ain't it? It's about a wounded warrior strapping himself to the headless cross with his belt so he can stay upright and face his foes.

Who amongst  us here hasn't done that...

I clicked on the updated link.... 11+ minutes?

Quite the song. I could picture this playing on a movie screen as the battle draws to a close for the warrior.... when they go all blurry and in slow-motion..... at that last gallant stand.... mortally wounded but still not willing to quit.

    I like it.

Thanks Herb, that's EXACTLY what we were trying to get across, very pleased it worked for you. Yeah, he takes a few more with him before
    he goes under

Dunno why Box shows it at 11:17 long, 'cos it goes back to the start at the right place. Just an oddity with the upload I guess.

James - ****ing awesome. sent goosebumps down my neck, you know i love you and Tim working together anyway, but this piece portends something more serious, more profound than the AS stuff, which, whilst fantastic, was in that folk/whimsy genre...please please more, more proggy, more dark...

James this is really nice and atmospheric. Would love to hear a bit more space in the guitar and vocals, but you might lose that up close and personal vibe...so that's subjective...but this was a joy to listen to. Sounds like you have your partner in crime for life. Great voice that guy has. Really nice guitar tone too and good synth sound selections. Well done brother!
