Nice tune. I have to ask, I get a slight sense of hesitation at the transition to the snare/brushes from the Bohran, other than that sounds good here. thanks for sharing.

I cannot say I like this song at all. Musically or mix wise. Given my admiration for the people involved I find myself somewhat distressed at giving this review. I have sat here thinking about why I feel the way I do. I think it is because of expectation. I know what each of you can produce, but more importantly I know WHAT you have produced. That is maybe why I find this dissonant mentally. It is a very big departure. Having just heard a couple of very clear and tight songs, coming into this one was a bit of a shock. It is very muddy and lifeless. I am used to much better mixes from you James. The bass in particular is dull sounding. The guitar tones were sweet, but the drums were imbalanced in range. The piano was cold. Musically, I do not know if Terry and Ed improvised, or of you provided them with music, but the only part I like musically was the guitar. There were a few moments with the bass that showed promise, and I kept hoping Ed would go more with it, but then he would pull back into this rather risk free pattern. Terry's piano was church lady - also devoid of risk or passion. Given how much passion and emotion I have heard him express musically, this was just so saccharin as to cause me to wonder if it actually is Terry. Did you scare them or something James? . Gosh I really do not like having to say these words to you guys. I could, I suppose just have said "good job"and be done with it, but I find that everybit as dishonest as telling an outright lie.

That's quite nice. Great tone on the guitar solo - This tune is it's transporting me back in time a bit - oh now I remember - this is reminding me of some of Shawn Lane's Power of 10 album. You've got some nice textures going on.

Shad, don't take this song critique thing too seriously, it's supposed to be fun, right? I wouldn't want anyone getting 'distressed' To answer your question, I provided Ed and Terry with the melody and chord structure and let them do their thing. I trust their musical instincts, and what they came up with seems to me to suit the tune. Did I scare them? I hardly think so.

I don't listen to enough "happy" music so thanks for the change up in my play list habits. Very playful - esp. the guitar. Sweet. I thought (think?) the piano could be bigger, esp. at the first, as benefits an almost solo instrument. Seemed a bit constrained - the voicing not the playing. @

James, this is a short, but sweet piece of music. I enjoyed the listen, but I think the mix could come up in volume somewhat. It's very smooth, but there's not much tension and release. But, kudos to all involved for writing good parts.

James, I do like the song. I listened yesterday and again today. The song itself it really good, I like the melody guitar tones, etc... I found something about it distracting and it took a few listens to put my finger on it. I think what you have are some timing issues, it is apparent when the drums first come in with the piano. It is mixed well and is certainly an enjoyable listen but to my ears the rhytmn section just is not together and it detracts from the overall performance. By the time the drums get more prevalent and active in the mix towards the end it does come together. I am a fan.. Regards

Very nice composition James and an interesting arrangement that keeps your attention. You always have great tones coming from your guitars and this one is no exeption. Very enjoyable melodically too. I have to agree with markno though about the occasional timing errors of the percussion and it did distract me a few times. Overall though a very well crafted piece of work.

Sorry James, I meant to listen and comment earlier. I like it, "as usual." Something a miss with the bass though? Did you know I'm a bass player? And? I have an Alembic? (Not many bass players can say that :-) This actually kind of a Steve Vai vibe to me? It's the guitar melody and in some respect the tones. It's over now, in retrospect, it feels almost like part of a rock opera? Like "a scene?" As it it was something else, then this happened, and it's about to transition to the next scene? (I'm sorry for that Ed, I didn't bust um too hard? Just a tap really? Like a fist bump?) Actually it sounds pretty nice all the way around? I did particularly enjoy the guitars. Good job.
