'Out of memory' error on program startup
I just purchased cakewalk music creator 7. I was very excited after watching all of the videos on your youtube channel. now I am very disappointed. after installing the program I tried to launch it. An error box popped up displaying 'Out of memory.' about 17 times. This happens every time I try to open the program. I get this error message and the program shuts down. Any help would be appreciated, or at least my money back.

Update: Attempted to uninstall the program. Got the message 'The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program'.

These are windows errors friend. google "the setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program". (I just did) and most answers lead to a full scan with a good antivirus making sure to delete temporary files. The problem is it sounds like its hard to get antivirus installed once this starts happening. I have worked in IT for many years, my guess is that this is not an application (music creator) issue. You have bigger problems ;)

This is a user forum. Here is a link with information about how to contact Cakewalk directly http://forum.cakewalk.com/How-to-contact-Cakewalk-directly-m2090582.aspx If you do elect to contact Cakewalk it might be a few days before they get back to you. It is very early Saturday morning at their offices. While waiting if you provide a little information about your OS and hardware it might be possible for some of the users here can help. Did you purchase MC7 directly from Cakewalk, a reseller or Steam?

I am running window 8.1 64 bit. My interface is a focusrite 2i2. I purchased the program directly from cakewalk. I also tried deleting the program files manually and reinstalling. I am still getting the error messages. I would like to think I won't have to buy a $70 anti-virus just to use my $28 DAW. If that's the case the heck with cakewalk and I'll buy another DAW from someone else

You manually deleted the installed sonar files? Eeek not a good idea. The installer files is OK. IF your PC is already infected or corrupted this is nothing to do with Sonar. Get that sorted before you even use your PC again. I would run chkdsk /R on your hard drive from an administrative command promo and check for hard drive corruption myself. My main hunch is that you simply aren't downloading the files properly.

There are a few things you may want to check. First try flushing out the cache memory of your browser then download the file again. I would download the file to a different location so the new file doesn't overwrite the old file. When you download make sure you have administrator permission and make sure your antivirus program is temporarily suspended or disabled. Once the file is downloaded again make sure the virus program is still off and you have administrator privileges before you unarchive the file and start the installation. Windows 8.1 and antivirus programs can mess up a program installation or file download. I suspect that is happening to you. Also I didn't think to ask before now but have you checked to make sure your computer device hardware matches the minimum requirements?

Make sure that your Windows 8.1 is fully updated. A lot of people have problems if the C++ libraries are not up-to-date. This problem usually happens when trying to run MC but has been known to cause problems with the installer. Don't just assume that running Windows Update has your system current. You need to look at the logs to make sure that update is not having errors. No need to buy special anti-virus software, the Microsoft standard ones are fine (but may need to be tweaked for performance reasons). Glen
