I didn't like the book at all, but I like your song a lot. I thought everybody played very well on it. My only suggestion is to thicken it up more in the mids if you can so that the recording quality is as good as the song. A lack of mids seems to be a problem with every other recording I listen to in this forum, which leads me to wonder if most people are using some kind of mastering plug-in that's sucking out the mids or something. Try this, open the web page for your recording, and in second web page bring up this Pat Metheny tune at YT and go back and forth between the two to compare the sound quality. Metheny's recordings and videos almost always sound as close to perfection as anyone could get. See how thick and rich and airy everything is, and try to master your recording to match it.

Love some of your synth and pad choices ....nice legato guitar solo's ... other collab mates sound good also .
Yeah, I was a little sad when it ended because I was enjoying the musical ride ... those + 7 min's went by quick .

excellent mate - the build up in the first section is really well paced and the guitar tones and playing are fantastic.
The second section is just gorgeous.

cool solo guitar stuff....the delay effect, seems stereo....? 
 
reminds me a bit of some of roger waters' solo work...
i think i like the 2nd half the best, just because of the vocal.
 

I DL'd the whole album when you put it up a couple of years ago. Still listen to it to this day. Great work you all did on these (and the rest).

Charlie - thanks for taking the time to listen. '90's amp sim' - yes, good ears, that was (and still would be) my ancient Boss BR8, which I use for guitar sounds. It is what it is.

I love long, ambitious songs.  It took a couple minutes to get there, but there were some really nice phrases in the solo on the first part.  I agree, the tone sounds a little old, but I thought the whole first half instrumentation had that same kind of style, so maybe it fits?  Really like the second half - works and sounds great.  Nicely done, really.  

Eight minutes, that's barely an introduction for a diehard old Genesis fan like me. 😉

I liked the contrast between the two parts and especially the guitar tone on part two. The vocals - oh yes - what's not to love about those. The slightly accentuated pronounciation and the light and shade reminded me of Peter Gabriel and I really can't pay you a higher compliment than that.

A very accomplished piece but I definitely preferred part two.

Please add me to the list of cheerleaders above.  Great composition, performance, and production.  Being an old guy myself, I rather enjoyed the "old sounding tone".  Really nice vocals in Part 2.

I would bring the guitar (1:20ish to 2:20ish) up a bit, its fine from there to the 3:30ish mark.
Then its a bit quite again; this all to my ear, take it with a grain of salt!
That "ping" at 5:17 (and the little one at 5:28) is the only "flaw" I heard in the whole piece.
Those drive me nuts, an otherwise flawless performance and "ding".
Y'all should be proud!

The pic on your Soundcloud page reminds me of the finale between Arthur and Mordred in John Boorman's film Excalibur. The song bears that out: an epic tale. Terrific guitar leads in Part I. The shift in Part II recalls Rossini: the post battle morning in The William Tell Overture. Great songwriting, great storytelling.
