'Winter's Night'

I was listening to this the other day and thought a re-post might be nice as it's heading towards Christmas (I think this was originally posted in 2007)

Winter's Night

It was quite a big collab, featuring some fine musicians and great people, most of whom are not often seen around these here parts;

Tim Wilkinson - vocals
Larry Hansen - acoustic guitar
Ed McGlaughlin - bass
Clark Engbrecht - brass arrangement
Heinz Karnitschar - backing vocals
Duane Rod - backing vocals
Bill Davies - celeste
Me - electric guitar

I'd like to dedicate it to Tim, who wrote and sang this song, as he's had a really bad year this year.

Very nice song.  The solo voice at the end was great.

    Well done!

I don't remember ever hearing this one before, but it's an absolutely beautiful song featuring an all-star cast of past and present forum members!

All of the performances were really top notch, and the quality of the mix is truly outstanding.

Wonderful song, and also a terrific collaboration!

Hi James - A stunningly beautiful creation. The composition is masterful, orchestration perfectly judged and the performance sublime. Definitely one of the best Christmas songs I have ever heard.

I remember most of those guys and especially Tim's wonderful voice.  Sorry he's had such a bad year. Give him our best when you 'see' him, will you?

This is just beautiful...great playing and singing by everyone and such a beautiful tune and touching lyrics.  And it sounds like a great mix.  So nice to hear Tim sing again.

    Hey James,
WOW . . . a stellar piece. Love the intro and the way this piece just flows. Tim's vox, you can't mistake that voice. Great mix love the way the acoustic guitars play with the symphony arrangement.  A WONDERFUL piece of music. Tell Tim to hang in there.

Quite a cast of players there James! Really enjoyed how this builds...opens up and just takes me on a journey. Don't ya wish you could package these guys up as plugins? LOL! Really loved the production on this as well as all the performances. Great bass sound....amazing how good things can sound when you have players that know how to make love to their instruments eh? Good sense of panning and utilizing the space in this. Loved the 3:40 section...some nice melodies and counters in there. Intimate section after with the bells and voices was awesome! Made the hair on my arms stand...great use of tymps....this is really loaded with goodness man...seriously. Enjoyed all of it...well done to all who took part in this...what a cast of awesome musicianship. Great mix, great song, great everything!

Hi James. I love this song. It's been a few since I've gone out and listened to some Acrobats Supper but it's always a real treat when I do. I also listened to my favorite which of course is The bones of Old England. Always sets me at ease. I hope Tim has a better year in 2012. On a side note listening to Tim's voice after hearing Robby's voice over the last few years I hear a common element in the texture. Just mentioning this because it's fresh in my head right now and it's just an observation but how brilliant would that be if they harmonized with each other in a song.
