4 sec. delay on virtual instrument.....X1b

First off, I'm not a newb with virtual instruments, work with hundreds on my tracks.  Been doing it for years (Sonar 2, 4,5,6,7,8,8.53, X1...)  That being said, just installed the long awaited X1b, first song to start strings on I load them in and have a 4 sec delay.  My Asio buffers are set at 256, should be 5.3 ms at 48000.  Never had this before.  There are no effects plugged in, and for fun I tried the PDC and FX bypass buttons.  Any ideas.....Thanks!

Is this happening with all synths? If not, which one(s)? A delay that longs sounds like a disk-streaming issue right offhand.

Just an update.  Re-booted and has worked right since.  I'll have to wait and see if it happens again.  Anyone running X1b should re-boot after updating.  Don't think I did....

I think it should FORCE a reboot after installing the patch - like many other apps do.

In this case, I think it's even more critical.

    We need a recording...

"Have you tried turning it off and back on again?"

Users don't read manuals, so yeah - maybe a wav file at the end of the install shouting it out ..."REBOOT!" :)

Re:4 sec. delay on virtual instrument.....X1b *unsolved* happens randomly during coffee.. 2011/03/22 05:46:26 (permalink)
Re-boot fixed the first time.  This time I went upstairs to get even More coffee and when I came back, my strings (that were working fine), now had 6.6 secs of delay. (Yes secs, not miliSeconds)  DPC latency checker shows no signs of weirdness: Absolute = 241 us. This time I just closed the project re-opened and it worked fine.  Anyone esle using virtual instruments see this?  I always use tons of VIs.

First off, I want to say that I have not noticed this behaviour in Sonar x1b. Not so surprising, as I installed it, and went to work... :)

However, I did notice something similar some time ago in Mixcraft. After some serious troubleshooting, I found out it had to do with the Midi Yoke I installed. Once I removed that, all went fine again. As I only needed one virtual midi cable, I used LoopBe1 from nerds.de. That solved my issue.

Not saying it is related, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to check :)
