44.1khz,48khz mix and match instruments in Sonar and Kontakt multi?

I have a simple question that I should know the answer too but it alludes me at the moment and I thought I would ask here.  Pardon my ignorance.
I recently have purchased some instruments/samples for Kontakt that are 44.1k/16bit and some that are 48k/24bit for Kontakt.  I normally run Sonar X1 at 48k/24bit.  So here is the question:  Can you have some instruments/samples that are 44.1k/16bit and others at 48k/24bit in the same multi for Kontakt in Sonar?  Does this make any difference in Sonar if it is defaulted to run at 48khz/24bit?

I know I once knew this, but it just alluded me and I figured some of you bitmasters and sonic gurus would have the right answer.  Again, pardon my senor moment here.  Thanks.

I found this in the X1 help file under importing audio files and thought it might be useful.

"The sampling rate and bit depth for a project is set based on your default settings in Edit > Preferences > Audio - Driver Settings. If the sampling rate from the Wave file does not match the sampling rate in your project, then it will be converted to the current project’s sampling rate and bit depth".

I think the answer is it makes no difference. At least I have never encountered a problem.

If I understand it correctly, the samples are not being imported into Sonar, they are running and being processed in Kontakt and the output of Kontakt is being renderd in Sonar at the project sample rate.

Thank you both, Chappel and Glyn Barnes!  I was having a vintage (senior) moment.  I knew it worked; I just could not recall and I started overthinking it with some recent samples acquisitions.  Your responses help reassure me and I need not worry anymore.
