48k sample-rate dropouts

Hi! I have begun recording at a higher sample rate just to see if I benefit from doing so. I went from 44.1 to 48K. I like it, although it's definitely not night/day. I see no reason to go back other than the following. When tracking drums, 12+ tracks, by the third take of a full song X1 will give me a dropout dialog when recording and playing back. I have to archive all unused takes to keep it stable. Recording following instruments/tracks is fine. 2-3 tracks at most when doing bass and guitars. Mixing is also fine without dropouts. Now I ASSUME it's because the higher sample rate kicks my system in the arse. Does anyone have any info on how to work like this? How does anyone record at 96k? I have a newer PC. Hexacor 3.3Ghz (I think), 16GB RAM (but using X1d 32-bit due to plugins I'm unwilling to give up or hassle with wrappers). Audio interface is Lynx Aurora 16 with AES16 PCI card. Thanks for any insight!

What hard disk are you recording to? Is it dedicated to audio and is it running @ 7200RPM speed?

    Sonar Platinum X64 - Win 10 x64 - Intel SB-E 3930 - Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 - 16GB DDR3 - AMD R290X - 4x 1TB SSD RAID 0 (Sys and Data partitions) - 2x UAD2 Quad - 1x UAD2 Octo - UAD Apollo Dual

What are your Playback/Record Buffer rates set at? Bump them up to say 512 or 1024 and see what that does then work your way back down while keeping it stable.  Keep us posted

This is usually what I run at-
    Audio Bit Depth 24
    64 bit Double Precision Selected
    Sample Rate 441/48
Playback & Record I/O Buffer Size 256 KB
    Record Bit Depth 24
    Render Bit Depth 32

    Hey guys!
I will check when I get to the studio to keep this up-to-date, but I am 99% sure I am running at 7200RPM.  That number is somewhat 'normal' currently right?  10k is coming, but right now isn't stable/cost-effective.  That's what I've read, perhaps totally wrong!

Anyways, I have settings that are very similar to digi2ns.
Once again tho, I'll dbl check.

I almost always use a high buffer rate.  1024.
I don't really monitor through software while tracking, so I almost always keep them up since latency isn't a huge issue.  Perhaps I goofed!
