4PE & Sony DMX-R100

Has anyone had any joy getting the jog/shuttle wheel and other controls on the R100 to work with Sonar? With basic MMC I can get the start and stop buttons working, but nothing else.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

The DMX doesn't speak HUI, or MCU... so probably not. If anyone wants to buy me on I'll be happy to code up the control surface plug in for you.

Geez that's a nice board... why is it you don't use it's 'native' mix automation and use Sonar strictly as a digital recorder? How are you hooking the DMX into your PC?

I exclusively use the onboard automation, Sonar is my DAW. It's just that with previous desks I've been able to use the jog/shutle wheel to scroll back and forth through projects which doesn't seem to be working with this desk. Plus it has controls so that I can type in SMPTE times and jomp straight to them etc.

Sonar outputs MTC on one MIDI port, scene/memory changes on another, and then the MIDI output from the desk goes back into Sonar. As I say, sadly only the start and stop buttons on the desk are working at the mo, not even the FFWD / RWD ones. :(

It would be great if you could code something! :D

From what I can tell, Sony's been promisin' HUI support for eons, but has never delivered. (The OS of your board is a neat little realtime os called QNX, it's very powerful and very fast, so I'm sure it's "FEASABLE", but you'd hafta hound sony to add HUI compatiblity to the DMX). However; hope may not be lost. If you can midiox the jog shuttle's midi messages then maybe we can figure something out. I have the plugin SDK and I'm presently working on bringing MotorMate/HUI support to Sonar.

I have console envy, by the way. I was | | this close to ordering one from Sony. It's a $25K board in Canada tho...

Redleicester .... I can't even get start/stop to work with my DMX/4PE combination so you're doing better than me !! Was there any particular setting you had to change to get it working ?
