Top scientists, theoriticians, and Clyde Hawking (Stephen's cousin) speculate that the moobs will continue to expand until a critical tipping point is reached. At that point, they believe that the moobs will collapse, essentially destroying the universe in an event they refer to as "The Big Moob".

While they don't dispute the results of the "Big Moob Theory", there is another group of scientists which disagree with the cause. This group includes Stephen's other cousin, Biggles Hawking, as well as Charlie Sagan and Skip Asimov. They support the theory that the "Big Moob" is cyclical and not caused by man. They say that we can't avoid the Big Moob no matter how many hybrids we drive. They also suggest that Al Gore is only in it for financial and political gains.
