5.1 Surround Exporting

Is a multichannel Wave File the only way export a 5.1 Surround mix from Sonar 3X? Instead of 6 different channels it exports in 3 stereo channels. If I export the mix in Sony's 64 Bit Wave File, 6 channel seperate channels appear but the LFE channel does not show any information in the audio timeline in Vegas for video editing. Anybody have a suggestion?
