'57 Belvedere
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11404073 Texas-style boogie tribute to a classic car. I drove one something like it, but my dad had one. His was a hard-top, that's the only difference. I actually wrote this about 1990, but that recording sucks. This was brought out to be offered to Car Talk. I will let you know if/when it airs. I aimed to make it all sound like a live stage performance, complete with an overdriven Shure mic (actually an M-Audio Luna). All the guitar work is a '64 Gibson SG Special with Schaller Golden 50's. Bass is an Ibanez SG 350. Drums courtesy Session Drummer (I am in love!).

Cool song, Steve. This takes me back a ways. I listened at low volume, and I could hear every element in the mix. Your guitar work is smokin', and the tone was perfect. Your vocal cut through, and the lyrics are just right. If you meant for it to sound like a live recording then you did very well. All it needs is some crowd noise and applause.

Thank you, Lynn and Lance. I'm still tweaking the mix a bit more, too. Trying to pump up the volume is my main ambition. I use Concrete Limiter, and that's helping a lot, but I don't think X1 has all the tools in place for a perfect post mix wav file. I also take it to Audacity for trimming, and checking for things such as clipping.

Hi Steve, Nice groove! I remember driving a '65(?) Belvedere through Thermal, California towing a Uhaul trailer full of our gear heading to our next gig. It's amazing how much punishment we put that car through (and ourselves). Thanks for taking me back! Rimshot

Thanks, Rimshot. I drove a 57 Suburban stationwagon through my senior year in high school, and a 62 Newport for a couple years after that. Love those MoPar cars. A new mix has been uploaded, with rewritten drums and a nice LOUD engine at the start. Check it out.

Kickin! Good solid beat. I like the vox mix, it works well with this. Good seperation. Maybe bring the vox up just a touch. I like the simplicity of the arrangement. Cool guitar break, but then as everyone knows.... I like anything guitar. Daryl
