61 key controller + 32 key controller = 88 keys???

My main MIDI controller is 61 key Korg Triton.  I also have a 32 key Edirol MIDI controller which I'm not using for anything right now.

Some of my soft synths have articulations above or below the Triton's 61 keys (mostly below).  I can transpose to get some of them, but then I lose some of my range.  From drum sets in particular this is a pain.  I'm wondering if I can find a more permanent solution.

Is there a way I can get the 32-key MIDI controller to handle the octaves below the Triton's 61 keys?  In other words, the A0-B1 range?

Does anyone do this, in order to create a big "virtual" keyboard?

I bought an 88-key controller and it was well worth it. You can get them from under $400 now. I regreted sticking with my 5 octave controller for as long as I did because it really hurt my chops. Now I can play my controller just like its a grand piano.

I would think the Edirol would allow you to transpose its range, but if not, you could use it on a separate track and set the Key + control to -24 or -36 to transpose it down 2 or 3 octaves respectively.

I was able to add the second MIDI controller (Edirol PCR-A30) as the lower octaves for the Triton.  Here's what I did:

    1) exit Sonar
    2) plug Edirol PCR-A30 into computer
    3) start Sonar
    4) Sonar: enable "PCR-A 1" in Options / MIDI Devices...
    5) Sonar: change MIDI tracks' inputs to "All Inputs - Omni"
    6) Edirol: transpose down 2 octaves (via the "Octave -" key)

    According to Sonar:
    - the Triton's default range is C3 to C8
    - the Edirol's default range is F3 to C6
    - the Edirol's transposed range is F1 to C6

However, according to Kontakt, those ranges are 2 octaves lower:
    - the Triton's default range is C1 to C6
    - the Edirol's default range is F1 to C4
    - the Edirol's transposed range is F-1 to C4

    Questions:

    1) Any idea why Sonar and Kontakt disagree about the octave?

    2) Is there a way to get Sonar to automatically transpose the Edirol's input down 2 octaves, while leaving the Triton's input as-is?

you can change sonar's nomenclature for where "middle C" is located.
