6strings at 200 mph.."Bounty Hunter"original

This original song has been updated and should be enough for me to retain my screen name for at least another year or so. LOTS of fast and very fast guitar and keyboard leads.
It is a call and response type of Instrumental that attempts to tell a story of a criminal that breaks free and the chase is on! The sirens are the guitar and the whammy bar.

"Bounty Hunter"

I hope you find it fun....thats is what it was written for....
Regards,
Mark

I say it on virtually every song you post; "Your guitar playing truly amazes me". I wish like hell I could have played like this back in the '80s when I knew people and played in bands!

BTW, where do you play in Vegas? The wife and I are going to be heading that way in the next few weeks, maybe I could catch you "live"..

Hey Randy whats going on. I play alot of different places. What I play out though is not this type of thing. As you know its just not what people are interested in at this point in the american music scene. All over the world actually, except for Japan where shred still reins supreme! (I need to move to Japan I think!! Paul Gilbert just did. From Vegas to boot)
Anyway thanks Randy, I live in Henderson, which is Las Vegas really, think Dallas/Ft. Worth, or Minneapolis/St. Paul what are the dates you will be here and I will let you know where I will be. If nothing else it sure would be great to get together for a drink at the very least. I could also fill you in as to the hot spots and maybe even get you comped at some shows if that interests you. There are alot of good ones here at the moment. Please let me know. And I hope you make it to a show of mine while you are here. That would be a hoot.

Thanks Jeff: It is a goofy little show off song without much substance I am afraid but it is fun for me. I posted this song quite some time ago here. There was a completely different audience then and I had a different screen name (as you know....ahem) so I thought maybe some of the peeps on the forum would get a laugh out of its over-the-topness.

Thanks mrsric1964: Do I know you? You posted to my last song. Are you a secret agent sent from the shred police? Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the forum! hmmmmm 2 posts and both to my songs...something is fishy....whoever you are thanks...

    Excellent Mark.

    Yngwie... take a seat!

This one shows of your talent as a composer, arranger, guitarist, keyboardist, MIDI programmer, and mix engineer. This tune was a big candidate for the low-mid-mud rumble... and I don't hear any.

    Guitar work is great.

    Love the sirens.

    Smokin', man, smokin'

This one definitely goes into my Friday afternoon set, probably have to push a side some Beck, Yngwie, and/or Via to make room.

    Thoroughly enjoyable.

Thanks Chaz I appreciate it. It is what it is. Meaning it is not in fashion nor is it something I could "get noticed" for, but it sure is fun to play and hey, your right its an original and you commented so....ahhhh...all is good in the world. Thanks Chaz.

SteveD: I am aways thrilled when you comment so a hearty thank you to you. I am suprised you had nothing to say about my cheezball drum programming and overall lack in that dept on this one. I sure would have had to agree with you. As far as Yngwie goes, yea he has been a big influence for me as well as DiMeola. I only wish I had the awesome writing skills as Al D. or even be able to write what Yngwie wrote for his debut album. That is the ONLY excellent Yngwie release in my opinion and I still am suspect of his sole writing credits on those songs..just does not match the writing style all that well of the rest of his mediocre releases thereafter. Anyway thanks Steve your comments are greatly appreciated.

mwalter: Wanna know something???? That is the exact reason I dusted this one off and added some stuff here and there then posted it yesterday. I was at the soundclick site just looking at my meager selection of music there and came accross your post. and well, the rest is as they say is now history. Thanks for your enthusiasm for this crazy song. It is a bit of a run I will admitt. Thanks

Ed: Thank you for always saying cool stuff. And I imagine you were chuckling as you heard the oh so substandard bass playing in this one.(actually I think this is the second listen to this one is it not? Last time you commented I think...Yes?) I was not to creative in that regard. I am a bit embarrassed by this but oh well what can I say. I am No Ed_Mcg.......thanks friend

    bass playing in this one
Fit the tune perfectly. Sometimes you need the floor be be just that; can't have spiral staircases popping up all over the place.

And you're right, I was chuckling, but that was because I was thinking, "this guy is outrageous". It did sound familiar, but you've reworked the parts, in particular the keys; or has my memory gone foggy?

    Intense! Damn.
The drums could use some punch, and the stereo field could use some widening, but those licks...yikes!
I'll never accuse my lead guitarist of over-playing again!

holy crap ... i'm blowing on my headphones to get em cool
    to the touch again ;-)

the descent at 3:08 is just awesome ... incredibly defined ..
i would hold the synth off a bit at 2:26 .. i like what was
    happening with the guitar ...

the bridge is cool at 2:41 .. could almost be another tune altogether.

keith emerson would be so proud of you at 2:59->3:08

i could never listen to this driving ..

    very cool,

Ha Ha Ha...No Kidding eh Sonic...thats hillarious this is not a lesson in restraint in any way shape or form. It is gratuitous and crude and I LOVE IT. <g>
You hit that one on the head. Way too many notes.

Ed. Thanks for the kudos and yea the keys are reworked as well as some guitar parts....(not many with the guitar though) and I cut out some extra rhythm guitar parts (2 whole tracks to be exact) that were making it too muddy. But its virtually the same. Your ears are in excellent shape.

JMarkham: I missed your post sorry. wow those are great suggestions. I never thought about the keyboard comming in to early and covering up the guitar bit. Good catch. Your comments are always so well thought out and observant. That is very impressive to me when someone can disect a song down to the degrees that you do with usually one listen. Very good ears and knowledge I imagine helps with this ability. And thanks for the comment regarding the fast run. I dont even remember doing it. As is usual with improvised leads. 100% of the leads were improvised as I am sure you all knew. Jamming alot lets you regurgitate flurries of notes that you cant remember or maybe even redo if you tried.
    Thanks J.
Thanks to all for listening and posting

Fun! Fun! Fun! So many things done well here...though all the posts above me seem to have covered what I'd say about this.

As Plankton said in the Spongebob movie (I'm paraphrasing) "His chops are so righteous!"

The only negative is tonight when I go home to work on my latest song and I'll listen to the pitiful solo I recently completed (I'm 6 strings at 5 mph) and cry in shame.

    Nice work my friend.

I did not expect you to say that at the end ....for some reason it caught me totally off guard! I was stone faced for a split second then proceeded to pee myself laughing...That has to be one of the better deliveries of a self deprecating comment I have to admit. Fast is impressive but it doesnt say a whole lot more than "Look at meeeee...weeeeee" <flurry of notes>
But it is still fun as hell when your warmed up and have a progression like this to play over. (I love the dark chord sound of F#min under a harmonic minor run....really cool sounding)
Hey you did not ask but I am going to offer one of my favorite scales that is used in this song repeatedly. I will post it in just a few minutes....
    Thanks for cracking me up.
    Mark
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first 4 notes are missing and the last note is missing. My picture editing is horrid and I could not fit it on the one staff in powertab and did not want to have two staffs so the last note is same as the firs obviously and the first 4 are as follows 1. On the A string fret notes 9 11 12 then on d string 9 11 12 (same shape) sorry it is not perfect. You get the idea though.
Pay attention to the fingering you use on the G string section. The whole thing is in triplets...123/123/123/123 its a cool scale. Start slowly around 80bpm and work up to 220 240. Then it gets really cool.

Yea I play out here in Vegas regularly. There are definately some dry spells and it is NOT my sole source of income but sure I live in Las Vegas and I am a musician I HAVE to play out. Its the law!<g>
And just FWIW nobody really has experience with this kind of stuff. Just attention hungry chumps like myself! There is not much to it other than a beefy chord structure and WAY too many notes. Thanks Kieran

Thanks kiwi's. Yea I guess it would have to be a non stop car chase movie in fast motion in order to be a movie storyline, well that was the original intent behind it. I am glad you found it entertaining. Means it was a success.
    Thanks
