8 gigs ram and 3gig dual core

Happy Christmas.

I'm about to install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a new drive and I already have 4 gigs of ram. The max the mobo can take is 8 gig. Before ddr2 ram gets to be triple the price of ddr3 ram I would like to install another 4 gig to make a total of 8 gigs.

Is 8 gigs of ram ok to use with a 3 gig dual core cpu?

    the amount of ram doesn't really have any impact positive or negative on the CPU.  windows 7 pro 64 should be able to use 8 gigs of ram effectively.
