Slugbaby
I think one of my errors was marrying a musician. There's no way I can get away with "no, no Baby - GUESS Paul is the high-end model. LES Paul is the $200 knockoff" anymore.
8 strings? I've never seen one of those, what's the tuning? BEADGBEA?

goes out to The Les Paul , good luck on sneaking that one in under the wife's radar
The tuning on my 8 string guitar low to high is F# B E A D G B E . Some players drop the low F# down to E
I have tried it with the low E , it is much easier to play fluently and know where I am , but I prefer the Low F# for now because of the uniformity of the fingering ...
My 7 string low to high is tuned to B E A D G B E ...on that guitar I have tuned the low B to an A and know what I'm doing ....
The tuning you mentioned is something I wish I was able to try out and use ...
I would love to try it out on my 7 string , it would equal E A D G B E A ...the same as regular guitar with a high A ..
I'm not sure I could ever find a guitar string that could be tuned up to a High A with out it breaking real easy ...
High A sounds absolutely great on a guitar style instrument .
I have a Yamaha Guitarlele . The instrument itself (made by Yamaha ) only cost about a hundred bucks new .
There are other brands out there with solid woods that I haven't tried out ..100 bucks ...I can swing OK .
The Guitarlele is basically a mini short scale nylon string guitar configured and built as a 6 string Uke .
The traditional tuning of the Guitarlele is the same as a guitar with a capo on the 5 th fret A D G C E A ..
On the fingerboard there is absolutely no learning curve what so ever . Everything is exactly the same as the guitar concerning chord shapes (closed or with open strings) , scales , fingering and just about everything you can think of.
The range of the Guitarlele is nice because if you play a song in E on a guitar and then play the same exact fingerings on the Guitarlele you will be playing in the key of A ...
I love playing something in A minor on the guitar and then playing it on the Guitarlele , it becomes D minor and the range sounds super nice ..
The high string 5 th fret on the Guitarlele is the same D you would find on a guitars 10 th fret ...
anyway , sorry about the extra ramble
all the best,
Kenny
