8.5.3. opening - crash question - X3 (which I love) SOLVED (had to move plugin)

Ok - I love X3 - so this is not a bashing thread, but I need help with 8.5.3 projects opening.
If I open in safe mode without the plugins - I am fine.
Then I add Garritan Steinway 64 Bit I am fine.
I have  Lynx AES16e and that is fine.
I have added Equality plugins and that is fine.
However, I have some of the Cakewalk provided plugins from the 8.5.3 file and a UAD-2 card.  Are these the likely source of the problem?  Is it wise to scrap all prior cakewalk plugs from 8.5.3 in safe mode and reload the ones cakewalk provides now, or is that a non-issue?

Why do I love X3?  I love the workflow, audio engine and design, and the only issue is some plug in my 8.5.3 files, because it works great when I do not load them (by using safe mode where I can disable the old plugs).

Thanks for any help.

    1. Have you installed X3b
    2. If not, do you have any migrated VST3 programs in the fx bin followed by a UAD plug? That causes crashed in X3a but not in X3b.
    3. Was the 8.5.3 created on another machine? If so there seems to be a bug related to UAD and the file names between two machines (IIRC)

Hi bapu - I have X3b installed.  I do not have a VEST 3 program(I think?) in my 8.5.3 files.  And the 8.5.3 runs fine on the same machine.  Also, X3 opens and runs great if I disable the plugs that I used in the 8.5.3 file.  That is why I am wondering if it is possible that an older version of a Sonar plug can be the cause?  If not, may be it is my UAD card, or the driver for the UAD card.
    THANKS.

+1 Bapu, X3b should have hopefully addressed this issue?

Yes for me (and others I assume) X3b did resolve this issue.

    deswind,

If you PM me I'd be happy to test your project opening in my environment.

I'm pretty sure I have opened and saved most, if not all, of my 8.5.3 projects in at least X1 so I don't think I have a project to test.

Thanks Bapu.   I am checking out one more thing with the UAD issue.  I downloaded the latest UAD drivers and I want to see if that makes a difference.  If not, I will send you something.
    THANKS.

Narrowed it down.  It is definitely my Equality plugins that are used in the 8.5.3 projects.  I have mono versions and stereo versions of Equality that I had to disable on startup of the project in safe mode.  Everything else, even UAD, is working perfectly.  Now I need to find out if it is just the Equality mono or stereo.  The interesting thing is that after I install the project from 8.5.3 to X3, I can later add the Equality eq on a track with no problem.  Bottom line - I am happy.  Even if I cannot fix it beyond this, it is an easy fix as I transfer projects (heck - a lot more could go more wrong than this.)  I will report back as to whether it is Equality mono and stereo uses or just one of them in the 8.5.3 project that creates the problem.  X3 is SMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Here is the latest - the problem was the folder that Equality resided in.  When I moved it to where some other 64 bit plugs were located - VOILA  - it all works great.  Wow - this is an amazing DAW.  And I was using 8.5.3 for several years now and it took me almost no time at all to love X3.

Im having the same trouble with equilibrium. Its in my 64bit plugin folder where its always been. If I try to play a X-2 project with plug in it instant crash as soon as I hit play. I can delete all instances of the plug and it plays fine. I love this plug and sure wish I could make it work!

Don't give up.  Relocate it.  I moved mine to where the Cakewalk 64 bit plugs are located and it works.  It failed in several other places including steinberg/vst.   It had the instant crash as soon as I hit play - just like yours. But now it works!  Go figure!

Did you rescan your plugins after you moved the dll file?  Did you move it to where the other cakewalk 64bit plugins are located that do work?

X-3 scans automatically when its launched. It was already in a folder where everything else worked and moved it to another folder where everything works that has the cakewalk plugs. If I insert a new instance of the plug it works fine.
