96 kHz projects down to 48 kHz after re-open

Hey guys,
 
this drives me crazy! :-D
I got a new project, where I work with 96 kHz wave files. So, I open a new project, select 96 kHz and work with the imported files. All is good. Playback, export, etc. is fine.
Now comes the "fun" part: After closing and re-opening the project-file, the project ist completely empty and it says 48 kHz on the transport module.
 
Any suggestions?

    How are you opening it. 
    Try browsing to the folder where you stored it and looking in the audio folder. See what's in there and use properties to find out what the audio is stored as. 
     
    when you saved, did you check the "copy audio with project " box?

    The audio files in the folder are still there and are in 96 kHz.
    Yes, "copy audio with project" is checked :-)
    I just gave it another try. Still the same. New 96 kHz project, import, playback, editing.. all fine. Close the project, reopen it: all tracks empty and projects sample rate is back to 48 kHz. 96 kHz audio files still in the audio folder
