Is the $99 upgrade special offer only for US customers? I've had 5 e-mails now from Cake alerting me about the special $149 pricing to upgrade to X3 Producer with a free video. The last offer urged me to act quickly as the sale has been extended to April 6th. I'm currently on X2 Producer, so the upgrade to X3 Producer will cost me $149 any day of the week. I don't get it. $99 is a good deal for those who have been offered it, but all this e-mail promotion for a free video?

Apparently not. I have received several emails from CW about the $99 offer.

Ha...I couldn't stand it...I'm pulling the trigger on this 99 buckaroo deal today. I blame Andrew and Ryan for preying upon my weakness. :) Hopefully it's possible to call and initiate the order process and get it added to my profile for download. I prefer to minimize doing online purchases. A great day to all...carry on.

Well this stinks. I've been using and upgrading Sonar Producer yearly since SP6. On March 29th I decided to pull the trigger on X3 now that 'e' has been released. I have been trying for years to get my email sorted out with cakewalk via phone, tech support and even PM's with a helpful Mod that said he would put me in the system. I come to the forums right after I paid the usual upgrade price of $149 only to see this thread. I called Cakewalk and was told that since the order had already been processed there is nothing they can do. PLEASE tell me how I can start receiving these Cakewalk emails once again. I used to get them all the time then somewhere around version 8 or 8.5 they stopped. I went to a link I found about 2 months ago and re-signed up for emails and still nothing. After all $50 is $50 and I'm a little disappointed that after all these years of paying full upgrade prices I cant even get in on one $99 deal. Mike

May I ask what is exactly wrong with SONAR X2 Producer (or right with X3 Producer) that I need to upgrade?
This is not a trolling question, but I am a newbie really to SONAR and far more used to Propellerheads Reason. I bought SONAR X2 Studio to attend a class with, then took the $99 upgrade offer I was sent to SONAR X2 Producer. Since the class was cancelled, I have only peeked at it a few times since then. It seems pretty suitable to me, but again, I haven't really delved into it yet. Does it seem worth doing for a new/hobbyist user? Are there going to be compatibility issues later on if I do make projects? Other caveats?

There's nothing 'wrong' with X2. It's not a question of wright or wrong. It's what fits your personal needs according to your current knowledge level. And...a bit of selfish desire to be current. :) IMO....If you are a new/hobbyist user you probably don't need to upgrade. Dive in, learn X2 Producer well and then decide as subsequent releases occur and/or check out the X3 demo. EDIT: I was on X2 Producer also but 99$ is a great deal and I downloaded all my files yesterday. Guess my weekend is already planned for me. :) Good luck....carry on.

There's a lot of truth in what Quaz has written, however, history will show that X2 wasn't given the care & attention that we've seen so far with X3. This is probably due to corporate, hierarchical issues. X2 was only ever updated once, whereas X3 has (so far) had no less than 5 free updates - most of which have been a result of user feedback. IMO, X3e PE is the most mature, stable & feature rich products ever to come out of the Cakewalk oven. Check out the demo, see what you think, then make your decision Great username BTW

I'm certainly not the power user that many are here so I would not have known any real show stoppers in X2(a). BOLD: thanks for the comment. I've never done a download purchase but I got all files downloaded in about 3 hours (13 files). A good day to all....back to topic.

scook Since you already have X2 Producer, there are 4 files needed for the X3 upgrade, 02_SONAR_X3_Producer.part1.exe through 02_SONAR_X3_Producer.part4.exe. The rest are the same as X2 Producer. Information about them may be found in a link at the bottom of http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/pages/x3_download_installation_instructions.aspx It would also require downloading the X3e update http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013361 And Addictive Drums is a direct download from XLN Audio. The instructions will be in your store account along with the X3 upgrade files. Hello, I'm starting the D/L of the X3P upgrade now. I have X2P. Just to be sure, I DON'T need to D/L the Loops and One Shots and Dim Pro, correct? Thank you, Todd

Yes, skip the download of "Loops and One Shots" and DimPro. They are unchanged from X2 Producer. Do download and apply X3e patch and run a VST reset and rescan after installing X3.

Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk] For customers who had issues ordering yesterday, we've extended the offer through April 6th.
I don't suppose this includes the free video offer, does it?
Indeed it does.
I bit the bullet and purchased X3 Producer using the special offer on Sunday. The only problem I encountered was there is no X3 Explained video download for my account. I suppose I have to contact Customer Service.

For me, it was listed in my store account right above my Registered Products under the heading Free Offer. I think it took a couple of days for it to show up.

Hi scook, quick question for you here. I'm installing X3P now, didn't D/L Rapture or Dim Pro, and the install process is now at the Rapture Setup dialog box. There's no option to "skip", so should I just select "cancel"? I don't have a good feeling about this... :) Todd

Rapture is part of the SONAR installer. It is not a separate install like DimPro. Don't worry about it. It should be OK. The worst that may happen is the program list may need to be refreshed if the programs.lst file is overwritten. You should not loose any of the previous installation data.
