Excellent Dan - really unexpected when the double time drums kick in and then the dance feel but I love it. My only slight nit would be maybe the acoustic guitar panned to the right could come down in the mix - I found myself hearing that over everything else at times. Brilliant though

Nice song and mix, Dan. I thought it was well balanced (maybe a little bit lower on the right acoustic guitar), and surprising twists in the song. Thumbs-up

Are there specific moments where the acoustic is too loud? There are parts where it is the lead, and there are others where it is a supporting instrument, so I am looking for specific problem times to focus on. Thanks! Dan

Out now Dan. I'll listen again later and try and be more specific. It's not a lead part.

Back now - the acoustic that is panned right - starts at 0.13 and ends 0.43 (when the same sound becomes more of a lead). Then it comes back in at 2.46 and turns into a leady thing around 3.15 ish. It sticks out and detracts from the lead you have there IMO. Let me say though that this is epic and a brilliant piece of composition/playing/production and mix - top job.

Got it, and I hear what you are saying. Overall, I think I boosted the acoustic too far and the entire mix is tilted to the right. I'll adjust the acoustic in those spots and pull it down a bit overall as well. Also, part where the acoustic competes with the lead is due to the fact that the lead wasn't there when I recorded the acoustic. The acoustic was the lead during that part. Of course, as thing changed, I couldn't decide which part I liked better, so they fight. I'll adjust it to sit better with everything else going on in that section. I also think I may need to add a bit more low-mid "plunk" to the bass. Thoughts on that? Regards, Dan

Good work! Everything is sounding very professional. I'm losing the melody sometimes though, maybe doubling or more gain when the acoustic guitar is playing the melody. The intro is great!

I've updated the Bandcamp track just now. Learned yet another lesson on judging when a mix is done: After checking the MONO mix, also swap left and right channels and see if the mix still "sounds" balanced. I got so close to this one and so used to hearing where everything was panned that I didn't recognize the tilt in the panning. Regards, Dan

Hi Dan, Sorry, sorry ,from where I am ,the previous mix with the acoustic guitar upfront was not that bad.... Now I know what this composition reminds me.( Though I am aware that sometimes we do not like to be linked to another artist.) So .. The intro reminds me a tune played by Kelly Joe Phelps.( sorry I cannot remember the title but it is an album where Bill Frisel holds the guitar here and there.) So tastes and Colors......everyone feels things one ´s own way. All the best. Olivier

Bob Oister Hey, Dan, Wow this is literally like taking a musical journey, one that really sounds fantastic! Great composition, arrangement and performances, and I love the richly textured instrumentation and how all the elements flow smoothly throughout the crystal clear mix. Excellent stuff, Dan, pro quality all the way! Bob
Thanks Bob! I tried telling a story with this one. Regards, Dan
