A Mental Picture

Hi folks,

not so long ago, coming back from a gig I've played on a Sunday afternoon in Mill Valley CA, we were driving over the Golden Gate Bridge to get to Saratoga. It was early evening and the lights were just awesome. I wished I had a good camera and the skills to capture this on film. The friend who was driving the car, said: " just take a mental picture"
Here it is: http://youtu.be/pUPXuRp-cf4
You may take a ride with me, it won't take long ( only 2 minutes)

Cheers

Daniel

thanks for the ride! I have been to San Francisco, but never on the Golden Bridge, so cool to know how this looks like. Man, only ten inches between incoming/outgoing cars on the left lane! I like the clean guitar sound, trying to capture cool chorus sounds myself, though it is not that easy...

I remember this ride when I was in San Francisco before I left for Vietnam, back in the day. I'm sure a lot has changed since then, but you captured it very nicely, both the ride and musically. Very nice little feature and well played. Nice one.

The tempo of the song didn't match the speed of the lines on the video. It didn't really paint much of a picture without the video either and did not stand on it's own. Also the video was pretty pointless, it didn't show anything special about the bridge. The upside is that you didn't get stuck in traffic.

    Hi pistolpete,

I'm totally aware that this doesn't meet the standards of a simple pro video clip ...not even close. I just filmed a bit with my smartphone and when I got back to Amsterdam I loaded the file as it was into Sonar and tried to create some music to it to send the whole thing to my friend as a postcard so to speak. I would love to go back with a professional cameraman and do some proper filming and some real editing. (The downside could be that we might get stuck in heavy traffic this time.. : ))
I could have actually cared a bit more about syncing the bpm with the mph, now that you mention it.

    Best Regards,

    Hi, Daniel,

Very cool smooth instrumental with a fresh sounding, modern cinematic feel!

Really nicely textured synth work, and the guitar and drums sound great.  I think it actually fits really well with the video footage and sets the mood nicely, especially with the lens flares from the lights on the bridge.

It definitely could fit well into a TV or film production piece.

Nice work, thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

    Daniel,

Well done, I thought you did a really good job with your musical interpretation of the drive across the bridge.  Nothing much interesting about the video as a stand-alone but watched the whole thing with the musical backdrop.   The music reminds me a bit of the soundtracks from Lethal Weapon, with a more modern twist.   Nice work.

    Hi Gents,

Bob, thank you so much for your encouraging comment! I'm happy to hear that the mood came across for you. Just by doing this little mini project, I realized how much skills and professionalism it would take to produce something worth broadcasting. And the competition is huuuuge. ...Sitll a long way to go.
Have a rocking good weekend too!

markno999,  I'm glad you like the musical interpretation. The video itself is of course totally amateur, I know . The more I appreciate your comment on the music : ) Thnx!!!

Dan, Thank's for the compliment on the guitar work! ...I'm just listening to your "Gypsy Dream" as I'm typing this... really, really nice!!!!

Again, a big thank your for your feedback!

    Hey Daniel
A wonderful selection of guitar tones.  Love the tempo of this piece along with your performance really helped paint the mental picture. EXCELLENT JOB!
