A Million Things To Do

This was an old .mp3 file that I dumped imported into Sonar and tweaked a little with Ozone. This is a ROUGH vocal. Comments would be great and appreciated. First song on my link.

Thanks!

Donny

    Donny,

Very nice mix. The separation is very good. You have a nice clean sound.

Not sure if you are looking for song comments, but I'll provide some...
The song is very nice however I don't feel that there is enough of a change between a verse and chorus. You have the same guitar parts (chugs on eights) playing through verse, chorus, and even bridge. I would like to suggest to change up (not change the chorus it is very nice) something there. Change the guitar part, or add a backing vocal part, just to try to tell the listener "Hey, here is the chorus!".

Again, this sounds mixed very well.

I agree with Tyacko. I think a little chorus on the "chorus" could work wonders and maybe some staccato strings? Still, it's a good song and you don't have a million things to do with it, only a few

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

Great lyrics! Good voice. Mix isn't bad at all to my ears. I have to agree with the others about throwing something different in there to break the beat up a little and to give a bit of variety to the song. It's a really good tune tho.

You have a really nice voice with IMHO the perfect vibrato speed for the range. I think breaking it up a little could be something as simple as modifying the drum track a little more at the chorus to provide that separation.

    Nice!

Donny, congratulations, you are the first listen on my new Bose NC headphones (nice thing about working 60 hours a week is a tad more coin for needed toys - I tripped over the cord of my last pair and ripped the chord out of them).

And thank you for an enjoyable listen.

There is a bit too much mid bass I think - it seems a tad fatiguing around that frequency. A small cut there might be welcome. Other than that it sounds great. A fine song to break in the new phones.

    Cheers

I am impressed with how airy (headroom) you got with it... nice little tune... give us some info on what piano you used... Maybe what effects you threw in for the space it has... To my ears everything sits nice...

The piano is a Kurzweil MP1 Micropiano or K2500. I'd have to dig a little to find the original Sonar project. I'm 99% certain it was probably all flat originally and just a short room reverb on the drums and piano, pretty straightforward. I added some highs, lows, and dropped the mids just a little bit all using only the graphic EQ in Ozone on the main bus. I had a recent Michael McDonald track imported into that I kept A/Bing with until I felt like I was getting close. Initially, it was pretty far off. My room acoustics are AWFUL so I all adjustments were done with headphones to eliminate the room factor.

Donny, that really turned out great - you've got a nice punchy sound on that.

    Very nice.
