A Pugtones original - featuring FreddyJ on vocals.

This tune was kind of an accident. I recorded the rhythm guitar and the drums and then lost the Cakewalk Project file - all I had was a wav mix of those when I decided to finish this one up. So, I sent the mix to Freddy and he wrote the lyrics and sang. Warren plays bass on this and does the background vocals on this. My buddy Ron Bock did the harmonica track on this.

Anyway, it only took a couple of years - but we finally finished Laid Back to Nowhere.

Thanks for taking a listen.

Glad you dusted this one off! Like the "lazy" vibe that still rocks. That dirty guitar tone is awesome and love that bass (especially those funky fills) & Freddy's signature vocals. Nice work on the drums, mix, the harp is smoking... heck everything is just... COOL!!!

That sounds excellent.  I love the guitar tones.  And the drums are mixed perfectly.  I like that short reverb on the drums - is that reverb shared with other instruments too?  Very dynamic mix.

Southern jam with crying guitars.  Fresh "crazy" heat for the summer!

As always I love and envy your performances "just because" they're top shelf.

Great singing; Lead singer is loose (as he apparently "lazy"-ponders those tones and snares'), and that makes this spot on.

This is great stuff guys, you captured the feel completely. Love how it 'hangs' here and there, like you're getting up the energy to go on Superb guitar work throughout, vocals are really fine too. I might back off the delay on the harmonica a touch, but that's a minor thing.

Hey, y'all.  I became involved in this song only to beef up the bass that they had on the song.  I ended up doing some backing vocals and suggesting some "comping" on the guitar to Mark.  He used those things and filled out this song nicely.  The old harp track he found was a great addition. That guys a virtuoso on that thing!!  Mark and Freddy did write it and I will let them do the replies to the commenters on this.  thanks to those who have commented on bass and BGV.  So, here's the bump and we'll let Mark and Freddy run with it.  Later, sisters and brothers!

Sorry, I haven't had the time to visit here in the past few days - I'm just up to my you know what in Alligators. I'm in commercial real estate and right now I'm in the middle of a couple of knock down drag out legal battles with Walmart on a couple of deals I'm involved with.

So, I'm going to try to respond here at work in between phone calls.

Bill - yea, we haven't done a lot of music in the last six months - thanks for remembering who we are - we do have a few in the works - But, Warren is so slow - probably because he so old and has to take naps every few hours.

Dave - appreciate you taking a listen - always good to get a compliment from a musician of your caliber.

thePogue - "dead feel" is a compliment in my book - just trying to keep up with Distant Towers.

Geno - thanks. The reverb on the drums is just on certain parts of the drum kit - but I do use a global reberb in the final mastering. Thanks for taking a listen.

Philip - you really think we're "top shelf"? - that is a really cool compliment coming from a musician of your caliber. Thank you.

Rick - thanks you - a "Golden" one for the Golden Boys. Thanks for taking a listen.

mgh - I'm glad you thought it was worth the time - it sure started out rough on this one - but thanks to Freddy and Warren - they once again made me sound good.

Chappel - When I added the harp, it got that live feel. Thanks for listening.

rik - I sure admire the music you do - so the compliments means a lot to me. Thanks.

Julie - very sweet of you - thanks for listening -it sure would be great to be able to do another one with you some day. Take care and thanks for listening.

Tap - thank you. Ron Bock played harp - he has played professional since high school - back in the early 70's. Im glad it was able to cool your day down a bit. Thanks again.

Scottybro - thanks - it only gets better when you're involved.

Wookiee - it was funny - the harp was done a year ago - maybe 18 months ago - then I put the tune away. I decided to work on this and all I had of the tune was a mix of the drums and rhythm guitar and that harp. So, I started with the mix of drums and guitar and left off the harp - it was only partially complete. After the tune was "done" and before the harp track was imported - the tune just sounded like it needed something. So - I mixed in the harp - and it came out pretty much the way it sounds now - it just fit nicely - filled out the tune real well. Thanks for listening.l

    Hey, Mark,

Wow, another killer good Pugtones special!

Dynamite performances from everyone involved.  The blues harp sounds great, I love the crisp, full guitar tones, and the guitar solo was fantastic.  Freddy's vocals were super, and Warren's bass and BGVs both sounded nice and punchy.

    Really good quality stuff, guys!

Not many harmonica players in these parts Mark (other than Frank that I know of), so, this was nice to hear! Guitar playing is sweet, Freddy's vox is always a treat to hear, and Warren be the Bass Man! Playing & mix sound great. Has a country/blues vibe to my ears, and you gents sound comfortable on this.
