A Salute to a great DAW that is limited by 32 bit.

http://www.magix-audio.com/us/acid/

Fired this thing up today just to see if it still works.  Really has a great workflow for audio files and one shots.  If they would have went further in Midi development like having a piano roll this was going to be my preferred DAW.  After Sonar 3 I started to dislike the gaudy GUI,the forum that turned you off by rude fanboys, and Sonar 5 was to be it for me.  Acid was going to be my DAW. Then I discovered FL Studio and of course 64 bit which Sonar was one of the leaders.

The last update of this software was when XP was still the norm.  This was a well developed piece of software since it survived Vista, W7, and works on W10.  I may have to install some 32 bit VSTs to give this some more toys.

Rumor has it Magix is working on a new version. (heard that one before my many developers)  I can't see anyone forking out $150 for a 32 bit only app but if it were for $50 it would be worth it.

A salute to a fine piece of software that's outdated but is still capable of creating quality music.

I just look for ACID on steam and its 28e for next 12 hours. And if you  don`t catch that there are frequent sales.

Ouch, the top three "most helpful" reviews are all negative. The second of them actually has specific details as to why (plus says he liked the older version better).

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

I forgot to mention that sometimes Movie Studio Platinum Suite is on sale for about 45e, maybe it`s better to wait for that.

I have ACID Pro 6.  That program was ground breaking when it was first released.  At the time it seemed to do the impossible!

I have not had it installed since the Win XP days, but I did copy all of the ACID loop content over to my loops and samples HDD for use with Sonar, etc.

I have to ask why would anyone buy Steam Powered software?  That's like buying Ubisoft games. Can I have more DRM please?

Besides it's not Acid Pro.  I still love the GUI.  People are so into eye candy but fail to realize that uses system resources.  Reaper is not pretty either.  Neither is Live.  If you want eye candy get Reason.

What? You can make music with only 32 bits? Who'd have guessed?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I happen to still like Sony Acid Pro Software ...first started out w Acid Music Studio 6 , then Acid Music Studio 10 ...
(OP's screen shot )...then I bumped up to Sony Acid Pro 7 ...the version everybody wishes would get an overhaul ...
I still have Acid Music Studio 10 & Sony Acid Pro 7 installed on my main computer ...
As far as I'm concerned that software is still a very nice little addition to have and use ...
