A Simple Meandering
Well, it's been quite a while since I have posted anything but I happened to have a few hours this afternoon to noodle around a bit and this happened so here you go: A Simple Meandering

That's a sexy .wav... Drew me in just by looking at it. I really like the guitar, and synth? But this is pregnant.... Weighting for the bass, drums, and percussion? And then the vocals... You have a great base for a song here... An epic tune.

Yes, Herb, thanks, quite mellow. That's all I seem to be able to do lately. Everything devolves into not-so-focused hints of something or other so I am just letting it go that way for now. Thanks band. You and Reece both mentioned adding more ... I'll have to consider that after a few days distance from the tune. Thanks. Hey Reece, good to hear from you. I would like to rework the vocal parts towards the end of the piece. I hate that slightly grating edge that sampled vocals can have when stretched and was too close to the project to really pick them out yesterday. P.S. Cool hats y'all are wearing these days. Gotta see if I can get me one of those! :)

I like this song as is. This was the first song I listened to today, and it fit the mood perfectly. I guess if you wanted to, you could add the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but I believe it stands on its own. Well done.

Don't think I've ever heard any of your work before. Very nice indeed. I think it stands up just fine by itself.

interesting to hear what others do when meandering:) Very nice indeed. The guit almost didn't sound like a guit. sort of etherial or something. I'm curious, what was the process of the guit recording and what EQ did you use on it? Thanks for sharing.

Hi, Bill. Good to see you in these parts. I like this. I suppose you could busy it up, but it would change the character if it. Personally, I like the minimalistic purity of it. Super clean tones, and as Kev mentioned, the guitar does remind me of a hammered dulcimer. Like many of your songs, this one appeals to the creative side of my brain, and conjures up vivid imagery. Not high drama, but profoundly simple pleasures, such as watching a fallen aspen leaf wander through the eddies of a mountain stream. Stepping back, and taking time to breathe. I could paint to this, and I just might. Did I mention that I like this? Rather a lot.

Hi Bill, very nice to hear a new piece from you, long overdue. This is lovely, and I'm in the 'nothing to add' camp. It works just fine for me as is, and I felt quite refreshed and peaceful when it ended.

Thanks dkbender, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again bandontherun, Oldfield is good :) Well Lynn if I could afford the MTC for a session, or somehow convince them to do it for free .... ~ponders wistfully~ Hey eric, thanks for the listen and the props. Ok radio your vote goes in the leave it as it is column. Thanks! Hi paulo, thanks. Gald to make your acquaintance. timidi The guitar in this actually a sampled guitar, the Stick Guitar patch from the Warped Strings library for Camel Audio's Alchemy synth. Its made from samples of striking guitar strings with sticks. I find it to be quite an inspiring sound. No eq, just the stock library patch. Thanks for the listen and the kind words. Hey drumstixkev, thanks. The sound is basically a guitar being played with sticks so it comes out quite like a hammered dulcimer. Thanks Janet! Hi Robert, thanks for the huge props. Imagery is good. Music is supposed to lift and inspire so reactions like that are always an encouragement to me. Thanks. Thanks Scotty, I agree less is more ... which is why I am trying diligently these days to put more less in everthing I do. :) Hey James, glad you enjoyed it. I haven't finished many (any?) pieces in a long long time so this is a bit of a get back on the bicycle exercise for me - I hardly trust my ears any more since tapering off the constant listening practice on the forums so the reactions here are encouraging. Good to hear from you. (BTW, gotta get me one them Inclementometers) Hi Rik, the guitarish instrument is an acoustic guitar played with sticks, sampled as part of the Warped Strings library for Camel Audio's Alchemy synth/sampler. I have a few guitar libraries and even piano libraries with harmonics and flagolets which all sound great but this particular patch in the Warped Strings stands above most of them for solo playing, at least for me (and for now ..) anyway. Thanks! Hey Kenny, good to hear from you. I know what you mean about running on empty. Been there, done that, will probably do it again :) Glad you enjoyed it. Take 'er easy. Thanks for the encouragement Frank, coming from you that means a lot. Hey Daryl, thanks man, soothing is good :)

Bill, hope you don't mind an unsolicited plug. New members, check out Bill's Soundclick page. You will be treated to a sonic adventure. If you listen to nothing else, play The River and Across the Oceans. On a scale of 1 to 10, these are 12's.
