A basic question

Hi,

This has probably made clear on the website and elsewhere many times, but even after reading about how ownership works for Sonar Platinum I'm still not sure where I will stand in terms of using / owning the software should I stop paying for updates.

I have been making monthly payments for over 18 months for Platinum. On my user account for Platinum, it states this:
"This is a membership product, your membership ends on November 1, 2017."

Unfortunately, at the moment I can't afford to keep up on monthly payments. However, if I do stop paying, will Sonar Platinum stop working for me? (I can't let that happen either as I'm in the middle of various clients' projects in this program!) The issue is not clear to me, because I thought I read that after 12 months you get to own the product (which seems reasonable) and paying for updates is optional after that point, but I'm not sure if that applies to me given the above note.

Surely the 18 months or so I have been paying into membership will mean I can keep the program in some capacity (minus updates) even while I temporarily can't continue paying for more updates (as great as they have been?)

Thanks for any help you can offer. Would rather not cancel and then find that I can't open or edit projects any more!

SONAR is not sold by the month. Cakewalk offers two payment plans for SONAR Artist/Professional and Platinum. A single payment plan and a 12 month payment plan.

The single payment is a one-time payment provides 12 months of updates and support with a full license to SONAR granted immediately.

The 12 month payment plan includes 12 months of updates and support. The full license to the product is granted after all 12 payments are made. All 12 payments must be made consecutively. Payments may not be skipped.

Renewals work the same way except there is a full license granted for the product already purchased. If the full 12 months of renewal payments are not completed. The full license reverts to the version prior to the renewal. Attempts to run a newer version will case SONAR to run in demo mode.

A Monthly payment plan continues until the user stops it. Monthly plans automatically renew every 12 months.

One-time payment plans are just that, a single payment. These plans do not automatically renew.
