A curiosity ....
I open a project - its got a mixture of audio and midi tracks - it takes a few seconds to load, little egg-timer at the cursor, opening project bar at 100%, and then its open - but with the little star after the name, ie its 'changed' by itself. .... Curious to what has changed as I haven't even touched anything yet I checked the undo history - nothing there. If I close it, it asks if I want to save the changes - what changes? I say no and reopen it - same thing, the little star. This time when I close it I say 'yes' to save the changes, so it saves them. Reopen again and the same thing happens every time! Little star by the name on opening ....

Maybe you have a plugin in your project that is no longer installed on your system? Or perhaps a corrupt clip?
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

How could I tell a corrupt clip? Would it be hidden? Everything plays ok, as far as I can tell. When I've had missing wavs or plugins before it has popped up a message box, but this time nothing.

Any plugins or soft synths in the project? If so, copy the project to a different name and take away 1 plugin or soft synth at a time and see if the behavior stops. There are some plugins that "think" they've changed just because you loaded them or opened the GUI. Sonar has no control over this and merely passed on the "I've changed" message by telling you the project has changed.

As far as problems go its pretty minor and one I can easily live with .... but it would be nicer if it didn't happen :)

If you have problems with opening a project try safe mode.

This has to do with plugs and/or synths with 'randomness'. For instance, this happens all of the time with reverbs, especially in the latest version when using external inserts. The reverb tails change 'randomly at any given point in a project. SONAR appears to pick up on this and sense it as a change in the project.

Ah, could be .... and I'll read up on opening in safe mode too - just in case

Yeah, I see this all the time when certain FX plugins are in my project.
