And having spent a bit more time w/ the new guitar, after taking care of some minor adjustments and changing the strings, all I can say is:  wow!

Mae didn't sound bad but this new one sings and sounds a lot more defined. And the neck pick up is frickin' sweet.

It's also my first electric guitar w/ such a big chunky neck and I'm loving it. Obviously, it'll take a tiny bit of getting used to but it feels right. And that satin finish on the back won me over. The entire guitar just feels as if it was custom built for me - it locks in perfectly.

Hi,

I'm not a guitarist ... but you might want to try something completely different one day ... and if "light" is an issue, this one will definitly make your day ... but all these traditionalists around here ... you're not going to find a lot of these things at Guitar Center ... end of story!

But yeah ... trying these is the issue for you ... you have no idea!

Check out Daevid Allen on his headless ... the sweetest "glissando" you have ever heard! He's right on top! Steve Hillage, also plays a similar guitar. And lately I have been looking at the folks playing the Stratus Graphite stuff ... really nice and clean, too!

http://www.pedrosena.com/photos.htm

You have to have the desire to find something different and a touch that is ... "not here" ... on what you do, so you can add a 3rd dimention to your work. But, if all you do, is covers and more covers for the professional circuit, then something like this is not going to happen!

Play for her some of the early Caravan (71/75), Manfred Mann (Magnified/Solar Fire/New Earth), Jack Bruce, and the likes so you can hear those Fender Jazz Basses and the early Gibson EB basses at work! All shortscale, too! Looks like Gibson is putting out an EB now that is shortscale ... since the Epiphone copies are really poor in total quality!

Thanks

Thanks for the pointers, Mosh. :)

Though I don't think we're about to agree about Epiphone being really poor quality copies - that's coming from a guy who's been playing guitar ever since he was big enough to hold one in his hands ;) They have some good ones and some not as good - like every company who wants to survive in this world. And you have to look for the right one, since quality control doesn't seem to be their forte. Just like Gibson...

Thanks. :) I'm really having a blast with this new LP. Another couple of evenings w/ it and I'm sure I'll be done w/ the transition.

I had almost forgotten how entertaining kittens can be. I love it when that little 2 lbs thing sets an ambush for me and jumps on my feet, acting like she's a huge 7 ft 350 lbs predator. :P

Since we thought she looked like one of those large eared bats, we called her Chauve-Souris (or, so that the vet knows how to pronounce it, Showvsooree).

Simply naming a Nugent song that is not Cat Scratch Fever would be just as hard for me. ;) Unless the Pantera version counts for one too.

I must confess that I have a hard time getting over my intense dislike of that character and to just enjoy the music. This practically never happens. Even Dave Mustaine seems charming by comparison.

Wonderful stuff, one of my favourite albums Craig.

I particularly love the excellent versions of Wang Dang... and Great White Buffalo on there, but Hibernation is my favourite track.

And he certainly gives excellent value in the preamble between songs

I've never been a big fan of his Tedness (I've got a few of his albums and the rather good Ultimate best of 2CD collection) but I recently got the Blu-Ray release of his 6000th show - Motor City Mayhem - to see if the ol' boy still had what it takes. I have to say, he definitely delivers, the sound is excellent and the band sounded really good, and there's a good selection of songs on there for sure. Mind you, and depending on one's political point of view, the inter-song rhetoric can get a little tedious.

Thanks, I appreciate. We didn't know her personally, but, nevertheless, Cirque is pretty much like one big family, and it's even more apparent here in Vegas. It was quite a shock. We've seen Ka a few weeks ago and it blew me a way - by far my favorite Cirque show, besides the one my wife's in, obviously.

Sorry ... was talking mostly about the basses ... can not speak for the guitars at ALL and wouldn't try. Stupidest thing I ever did was trade my EB-0 (with the sideways pegs!), for a Fender Jazz Bass ... I liked the Fender, but it didn't have the guts and the nice touch and feel that the EB-0 did. The Ephiphone covers are cheap!

I see - well, for bass I couldn't tell as I haven't tried them. So you may very well be right. At any rate, the original Gibson SG bass was incredible, indeed.

well, i was gonna say try a PRS SE or Tokai, but then I see you already dropped the moolah.

I hope it is what you wanted! You did the right thing trying them out -Gibson/Epi QC is epically bad...

Yup, I knew their QC was bad and it was yet again another demonstration of that. I couldn't believe how different they all felt, or rather, how much better than all the others the one I picked was. If not for this one, I don't think I would have walked out of that store w/ a new guitar.

I've had very few minor adjustments to make and it turned out to be exactly what I hoped it would be, albeit w/ a chunkier neck (which is actually a bonus), an improved version of my favorite/most fun to play guitar.

Glad you got the guitar you wanted Rain. She looks like a real beauty. You have quite the fleet of pest exterminators there. If I were a mouse I wouldn't want to be within  a mile of your house.  That's quite a pair of ears on the most recent addition, could probably pick up a few FM radio stations with those things :)
Me and cats have a long history of attempting to get along usually ending up with me getting scratched and throwing said cat across the room. It still might happen  one day. I don't hate em'. It was tough to make friends with the gator in my avatar but eventually we found some common ground. First I needed to convince him that I wasn't dinner.
