A few questions from an "Old-Timer"
Well - it's been a while since I visited this forum. I used Sonar for an while (started with Sonar 7) and still have X1 on my harddisk. I am mainly using Cubase 8 now (because MIDI editing "cliked" better for me in that program). I still have an "weak spot" for Sonar tough. It was my first DAW, and old love never dies. Now with this new payment model it is affordable for me to upgrade my "old" X1 Producer to the new Platinum version. I especially like the fact that I can do monthly payments, and own the program update after one year, even if I would stop paying after that year. I have an few questions that can possibly be answered by the people over here. Here they are: Is X Platinum backwards compatible with X1? I mean - can I load old "X1" projects in the new Platinum version? I assume there are a lot of people here that have (or had) old project laying around, so what are the experiences with that? As I have X1 Producer Expanded I also have Prochannel modules, like PC4K Channel Compressor, the S-Type Expander Gate and the Concrete Limiter. Are these modules still usable in the new Platinum version? I am looking forward to play around with Sonar again within a few weeks. Like I said ... "old love never dies", does it?

Welcome back John, All your PC modules will work. Here's a link to the comparison page. It will specify which plugins are included. You may well have many of them. http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/VersionsProjects should be usable from X1 but as usual YMMV.

Great! To be honest. I was not really gone, but had an lot of projects running at the same time. I did an little "time-out" after the fallout of the X1 launch was getting on my nerves (I just liked X1, and got an lot of "not-nice" replies to that). It's good to see things have calmed down an lot. Nice to see some familiar names are still around..

Well - I am happy to say "Platinum" is running without problems on my system. So far everything seems to work nicely. Older (X1 Pro Extended) projects load nicely and work without flaw (well apart from some missing plugins that I have not installed yet on my new system). The pro channel modules where registered without any problem, and work as expected. I only have to install the Universal 120 and Vintage 70's and 80's sound packages (for Rapture and Z3TA 2) and the missing plugins, and it's done... I have no time now to do an extensive test (as it is my 60th birthday today so I have an lot of visitors - including the friend that offered me an year subscription on Platinum as birthday present), but the coming days will be interesting to say the least..
