I always buy my art by the square yard, sculpture by the lb.  I always know where I am with that kind of pricing structure.

FWIW, I work in a creative field but as an artist... I'm still one of the hungry folks. :-) It just doesn't bother me that other folks have partnered with big corps to make some money. More power to them is what I say.

There are thousands of "starving artists" Mike. People who are not what the "business" can connect with. Many of them are very good. Some will reach some level of success at the street level. Some will never adhere and convert to the current "trend" that the big money is focused on. Some will go underground and create a following on a regional level until they find the road to huge success is just held against them by the "business". All big business entities get sighted by brilliant criminals who entrench themselves in the the workings of the business and use the name of the business with powerful authority to those not in league with the business to acheive their own success. And thus the reputation of the business suffers from the endeavors of those individuals. Meanwhile the path becomes obscured, the deals get convoluted, people are chosen on their choice to submit to the will of unscrupulous individuals trying to make their way up the ladder and once the power has been established, it becomes a wait for a clear path situation.
I applaud any artist who has held his own art, and those who have turned the tide in whatever degree they could. I could go on but I won't.
