A new take on an ORIGINAL song . . .
This was an original song I wrote back in 2008. The tune was suppose to be alternative but it became more Country/Pop. I decided to try and make it more 2013 . . .but leave the Country/Pop vibe. I think maybe the tempo should be faster? The vocals need some work. I really don't know! NEW. . . version of "SHE BELIVES IN ME" https://soundcloud.com/vo...new-she-believes-in-me If you want to hear the original 2008 take http://www.soundclick.com...789&songID=6876713 As always comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. THANKS Kev

I was thinking Kenny Rogers when I saw the title? But you can't copyright a title :-) Thank God! I wish that I could solve problems that I could never see? But only trust and time could set me free, cause she believe's in me? Really great lyrics... "You were right, and I was wrong?" Is it possible to win an argument with a woman if you don't start out this way? I think I speak for all men who will hear this song when I say... "I think you've captured it..." The dialogue we all need? When we all want? What we all need? (I may have just written a new song there Kev?)

Kev, this is a terrific tune. I don't know if it's more 2013 or not, but that implies to me that it would be more formulaic or more like "paint-by-numbers". This song definitely is not that! This is a good original song if I ever heard one. I love your voice on this.

Hey LYNN . . . I almost forgot you buddy. I really appreciate your support and comments on my music. I'm glad that its not coming across dated or so dot-to-dot. It is a bit of a hokey Country tune. I'm also glad your liking the vox. . . I don't hear that too often. THANKS MUCH for the ears. LATER Kev

Kev, this is a really catchy tune, and I think you did a great job on it. The vocals sounded fine, in fact, better than fine . The whole thing came together really nicely. You had such a good groove going, I'm not sure I would have stopped for the 2 a capella breaks, but that could be a personal taste thing. Maybe I'm nuts, 'cause no one else mentioned it, but I was thinking I heard some tonal conflict with that underlying guitar melody line, like maybe a string was out or something. Ignore if no one else picks up on it. Overall: catchy, different and really original feeling tune... one to be proud of for sure.

"Hokey" and "country": is that redundant? Fun song, great lyrics, good performances. Really not a negative thing to say about this tune. The next tune that plays is really good too. Excellent work! Mark

Hello PHIL . . . WOW . . . you have some fine tuned ears. I think what your hearing is the mandolin riff. I hear it also and your probably correct about it being out of tune or maybe its just my playing. I'm thinking about going back and seeing what the song sounds like without the capella breaks. THANK YOU very much for the props and comments/help. Hey SHAD . . . A three really song . . . cool! I appreciate you giving both versions a listen. THANK YOU for the ears. Hey JOHN . . . I know this is probably not your norm listen but to get the head bobbing is a huge prop in my book. THANKS MUCH for the support. Hello MARK . . . I'm glad you enjoyed it. THANK YOU very much for the kind words and props. THANKS AGAIN! Kev

Kev, more than anything else, I think this song demonstrates some tremendous growth as an artist. No disrespect meant to any other, but I find that many updates do not actually improve a work (especially in my case). This is a definite improvement. I am a bit in awe of your abilities truth be told.

Hey SHAD . . . Growth in my music is all because of this forum. This forum allows me to learn so much from every artist here. I don't care if your a 20 year studio musician or if its your first mix . . . I try to listen and learn. This is kind of a cheaper version of going to Berklee College. What I'm liking so much here now are the members like yourself who are taking their music to the next level with video. Now that is COOL! So when I say THANKS, and I appreciate your support/help/comments both bad and good on my music. I want you and other muscians here too know that I really mean it. THANKS MUCH, Shad. LATER Kev

Kev, Good song, very catchy. I like your update vs. the original 2008 take. The original take is good but not quite as infectious as your current rev. Really fine songwriting. I could hear this on the current country charts... Regards

A terrific number Kev. It belongs on CMT -- do you have a video ;>) If things were switched around just a bit (tempo, instrumentation, etc.) you would have a great British Invasion pop number circa 1964. Great lyrics which fit the melody perfectly. Your vocals are spot on! Excellent job.

Very well done Kev! Really nicely written song, reminds me of Paul Simon a little. As a preference I might pull those wide panned guitars further in and add a little more reverb or delay, just to push the vocs up front a bit more.

Kev - this is a cool tune. I think the tempo is just fine the way you have it. The mix sounds nice a clear. Your Vocals have a great tone. One thing to consider would be to tighten up the background vocals. The bgv and lead vocals are a little out of sync in a couple spots. Sounds like a nice improvement from the earlier recording.

You always do such nice work. I really like the song and production. Made me think of Rick "No How". I remember when you posted this song before(first mix). I didn't go back and listen because I'm trying to use the time this flu allows me to be active. You're a really good guy, Kev, and you do REALLY good music, even though you are a part time grinch. :-)
