A new tune titled EMOTION. (remixed for the sixth of seventh time)
I have mixed and remixed this so many times, I don't know whether I'm going forwards or backwards. Thanks again for all of the constructive comments to EMOTION

Nice playing.... the acoustic sounds like it's recorded by a pickup. The guitar is nice... There is a hum going on in the background that is distracting from the beauty of the music.

Herb, thanks - I'll check out the hum. Yea, I always go direct with my acoustic guitar - I just don't have the patience to use microphones. Thanks again.

I just bought a new acoustic and it has no internal pickup (intentional choice by me) so I'm now forced to learn the fine art of miking a guitar. So far so good. Test results of the first miking session will be up in a week or two....along with details.

Hi, Mark, It's really great to see you around here again, buddy, and you did a killer job on this fresh sounding instrumental! Excellent, very tasty playing, as always, and the emotional feel of the song definitely stands out nicely, so I guess the title is perfect for the song. Fantastic job, Mark, can't wait to hear your next one, have a good one! Bob

Hi Mark , interesting tune, like it. Personally can't stand di'd acoustics but sometimes it's the only option. Maybe a bit of stereo widening on it to take away some of the directness and give it some space. Love the electric sound. Nicely played. Rik

Nice playing! I like it! I'm not sure about the recording though. It seems too loud? Maybe take the mix down to -6db? If your summing two guitars on the master at 0.0 then it would be too loud. When you mix guitars with a whole band they only peak around 0.10db or somewhere abouts. Very well done!

Bob, good to see you - thanks for taking a listen. James - thank you sir. Tom, yea, things are really good - I retired in June - man I love not working. I've been fishing down at the river more than playing recently. I caught a 5 lb. 24 inch trout last week. Rick - thanks - I agree with the comment about direct acoustic guitar - but frankly, I'm just lazy - find recording with a mic to be a hassle. And, I do this for the fun of it. Thanks for taking a listen. Pima, I've done a lot of recording with a full band - and I always try to record the guitar at somewhere between -6 and -10dB. I don't have much experience with just two guitars like what I've done on this tune - so - thanks for the help. I've lowered the overall mix to -6db - I think it should sound better now - not quite so much in your face. Thanks all.

OK - I spread out the acoustic guitar track - added a bit of a phase shift. I'm not sure if it's getting better or worse.

HeyMarkybro, Nice tune! The e-guitar is way over powering the a-guitar. Need to bring up that a-guitar track. I would double it and pan hard left and right and keep the e-guiitar up the middle. Miking a guitar isn't that much of a fine art if you're lucky like I am when it comes to miking.

Scotty, is that any better. I guess part of the reason the acoustic is down in the mix is that I'm trying to hide it. I just put up a new mix - spread out the acoustic - electric is right up the middle. One of the problems I have mic'ing an acoustic guitar is that I have a really crappy acoustic guitar - and when you mic it - it just sounds like a crappy acoustic guitar. I'm hoping to get a Taylor next year - if I do - I'll be micing it. Thanks for taking a listen - thanks for the comments.

Hey Mark, You're going in the right direction. The lead guitar is still too up front and dry. I would bring it back down in the mix and add some verb and delay to it to give it a nice, spacial sound. The acoustic doesn't sound all that crappy to me. Let's hear more of it!

Clean I would be tempted to try to warm the acoustic sound just a bit. It doesn't sound bad the way it is. And I'll go ahead and +1 with the rest of what Scotty posted.

Just my opinion but, rather than spending a lot more time on what you already have here... work on developing the arrangement more... then come back and play the lead... I miss your cool drum style & sound... Good to hear you again...

Hey! I liked it a lot but it's really intimate sounding! I'm listening on some pretty good headphones and it's like the lead guitar is inside my head. Glad it sounds nice! Seriously, I really like it. It's warm sounding and really charming. The hum is a cool touch. It sounds real with that somehow. for this kind of tune I think it's ok. Maybe the two guitars could be "glued" together a little more in the mix, with some room reverb or something. All in all, nice guitar tones and very nice tune. thanks for sharing

Hey Mark, This is a really beautiful song. I can't comment on the mix because I don't know what I'm talking about on this subject and besides you already got good advice . I do know just a wee bit about guitars and you have done some excellent playing. I always have been an admirer of your phrasing and this song is no exception. Terrific stuff. Freddy J

Really nice Mark We all need to sit back and listen to music like this sometimes. It seemed like you were putting on a small concert for just me as I sat back and let all my worldly troubles fall away for that 3 minutes and 35 seconds. Nice phrasing also
