A nice observation that I actually never had to opportunity to see before...

Thought I'd share this (forgive if this may be obvious to many users),

For the past 2 months (after a short rest) I have started producing again but with a completely different approach.  I am now ruthless for the "song"and don't spend too much time thinking about the "sound" at these early stages.  I want to get a structure & arrangement and edits down as quickly as possible.  I used to Mix as I go but finding this new way much more creative and freeing.

Anyway what I have very happily noticed is that SONAR has not crashed or even glitched in the 2 months.  I mean not even once.  Now most DAW users live with some sort of crash/glitch from time to time and complain about it.  I'm no different but because of this new approach to production for me, I have no cause to load up 100's of third party plugs (for the moment anyway) so it has at least given me a better appreciation of SONAR's core.

Its rock solid.  Its just nice to see it for myself instead of getting swamped in third party issues.

    Yes, I think it's better to work in stages too. And when you get to the point where you do need to start mixing and loading up plug-ins, one thing that can help stability is to increase your latency in Preferences. That way SONAR (and your CPU) won't struggle with trying to maintain low-latency and keeping all those plug-ins running. You don't need low-latency when mixing.

    since X2a update and setting my Aud.ini file . Its been wonderful .   although if I open about eight different projects one right after another . The 16 gig of RAM gets full and opening a plugin will crash it. But this is not  normal for me to open that many projects between reboot ... so not a problem.

    great way of working, I do the same, its important to get the frame built before creativity is lost at the slightest.
    though over working a song will yield a better version, I cant deny this in all my years, I re-work songs a lot.
    till they're right.

    but what your doing is great and a lot along the lines the way I do it too.

    same here, hardly a glitch, always know what to expect, never sitting there like "what was that ?"
    feel bad for those with troubles though, hope they have better luck.
    a lot to be said for a clean install with no bloatware pre-installed.

    1% inspiriation 99% perspiration.  That's basically how I work.  I can have a great idea for a song and structure laid out in minutes in sonar.  The next few days are then spent on plug-ins, mixing, refinement, relaying etc, etc, etc, etc.
